Does anyone else here give there dog a bowl of Kibble and whole milk each day. My dog absolutely loves it. I have a slightly over sized bowl filled half way with kibble and then up to about ¾ with milk. Kind of like people do with their breakfast cereals. A gallon of milk lasts her about 10 days or so. And when she hears the kibble hitting that ceramic bowl she is already bouncing in anticipation. She also gets a daily boiled egg and some human grade meat chopped mixed in with her dry kibble. I use a Purina Pro Plan for dogs with sensitive skin, but I may change from that in the coming months. I also sometimes put a couple of ounces of peanut butter in small dabs mixed in the kibble. I buy those large 4 pound jars of smooth peanut butter for her, but I end up eating almost as much of it as she does. LOL

I never feed her canned dog food. She also gets fresh raw hog bones with meat on them and deer bones when they are available. I think she likes them even more than the kibble and milk. Even more rarely she catches the slow squirrel or rabbit for a quick off the book snack.

I don't think I have ever just fed her a bowl of dry kibble without some real protein mixed in with it.

Mine is on grain free Taste of the Wild and what ever he can beg from the table. Had some funky ear problems till I got him off corn. Also had large lawn mess, that decreased when the grains left. He does like his bowl of left over milk after I finish my breakfast.

3 dogs + 2 cats. Dogs will not eat dry food at all, but they love Milk Bones as treats. They usually eat only canned dog food (house brand) except if the cheap hot dogs are on sale even cheaper (like 68 cents per package). Then I stock up on them. The dogs go crazy over hot dogs. One cat eats only dry food. The other cat eats the same canned dog food as the dogs. She won't eat canned cat food, only canned dog food.

Hills Science Diet for old dogs (dry) and Taste of the Wild (wet, assorted) mixed in with a little warm water and a fish oil gel caplet, repeat in the evening without the fish oil.

The kibble is something spendy that the wife picked out, we supplement with something less spendy home made wet food.

Brown rice
Peas and carrots
Turkey burger
Mix up a big pot once a month and put that on top of the dry food with a couple table spoons of yogurt or apple sauce.

Sophie gets a can of Ol Roy dog food in the morning and a dish of Beneful in late afternoon.
Dogs evolved from wolves that ate whatever they could kill in the field and later whatever they could scrounge from garbage dumps. If you over pamper a dog they are no different than children, they will never build up an immunity to any thing and you will pay for it in vet bills later.
I make absolutely sure my dog gets a good daily balanced diet and that's it, she's as health as an old horse, because she's old too.

I don't feed my pet (when I have one) any people food, nothing with sugar, salt or spices. The last dog I had was on a restricted diet because of kidney stones, from the time she was 6 until she died at 14. That dog, before the surgery, would eat almost anything. She would even eat turnip greens and drink all the pot likker. She was definitely healthier after we stopped giving her table food.

Both of our dogs are on a "raw diet". They get raw chicken legs, raw beef ribs and raw ground beef. It's arguably the best for them and they get everything they need dietarily from just meat products. Their BMs are very dry and small. My great dane has BMs the size of a raccoon. They are both in excellent health with shiny coats and great tone and structure. I should look so good (or eat so good for that matter)!

Well my dog had 2 types of food. Mon - Sat I gave him a bowl of dry dog food. The good stuff without fillers or corn. On Sunday (because I'm home) he would get a little bit of the dry food as a filler. The rest was either chicken, beef or pork. Sometimes lamb. No spices of course. Half a carrot, half a cucumber (he L O V E S cucumbers), one egg, half a green pepper, table spoon of goat cheese and a table spoon of olive oil. In the winter when I make chicken soup I first boil the chicken to make the broth then, before adding spices, I pour out a little into a container and use that instead of olive oil.

My setter has always been pretty picky but she's doing better than when she was a pup. She gets 2 cups of Purina Pro Plan 30/20 and some meat scraps. I also save the livers from deer or pheasants I shoot for her. The deer liver I slice up and freeze on a cookie sheet then bag up.

I don't feed my dog anything, I ain't got a dog. :D However, I feed my cat expensive Science Diet cat food, which is $40 per 8£ bag.:(

Having owned yard-dogs all my life, I never thought at my age I'd end up with "lap-dogs".

Our two Shih Tzu's cost more than the first 3 cars I owned.

They eat a 'Blue Buffalo' brand mixture that might as well be made from spotted owls at $63 an 18 lb bag.

We have a shih tzu also! He was a rescue, 1-1/2 year old, only cost the rescue fee, plus donation annually, cause we really liked the place, procedures, and the volunteers.
We have had him a year now, things really going well! 😁 My first lap dog, after Vizlas, Chesapeake's, and Cocker Spaniels. Don' t hunt now so Dylan fits in well with my recliner!!
Oh yeah, food, Hills Science Diet, small bites lite. Plus jerky strips, beef or chicken, made in USA, torn into small pieces. Vet said the biggest issue with lap dogs is managing weight, cause it is hard to take off, and a pound or two is a big deal to them. Gave me the up and down evil eye 😉 as he was explaining this!

I feed my yellow lab, Charley, Diamond Naturals.
It comes in chicken, lamb, and beef, and I rotate flavors so he won't get bored, although he inhales all of it like he doesn't care.
He doesn't get people food, so he knows better than to beg, but if I am anywhere near the fridge, he is right there because the Milk Bones are on top and he always gets one and he knows it. :)
