Iam new on here and have a question about the M&P 9mm. I have never shot one but would like to get another 9mm. I have a Ruger SR9 and its O.K. but not as good as the Glock 19 which I shoot a lot with down at the gun club. Would like to get another 9mm was thinking of a Glock 26 but got interested in the M&P9. Whats you thoughts on this? Ive asked around down at our gun club and noone has shot or owns a M&P9 most of the guys are into glocks.
Thanks

We adopted the M&P40 as an issue weapon close to 3 years ago. There were numerous folks who liked the piece so well they went out and bought one of their own. Many of those are 9mm. Love mine.

I carried a Glock 36 in 45 ACP. I still carry it sometime but more frequently I find it simpler to put a Kahr PM-9 into my pocket.

I also shot a Glock 17 until I switched to a S&W 99 and now to the M&P9 Pro. I prefer the ergonomics of the S&W 99/Walther P99 and M&P9 over the Glock's. They fit my medium-large hand better than the Glocks which are very slab sided.

I have an M&P 9 and I love it. Love the price of 9's also vs the other cal's. I am in a club also and although I get knocked down in the scoring for using a small cal I prefer to hit what i shoot at repeadedly

M&P 9mm fantastic. I was a Glock guy until the M&P series came out. Accurate, reliable and fits the hand. You can not go wrong. 2500 rounds through mine, not a problem to date. Mine is the M&P compact 9mm.

I bought a M&P compact in 9mm and I thought it was great. No malfunctions, easy to shoot, accurate for a combat pistol. I liked it so much I bought an M&P full size 9mm and its been equally as good. That inspired me to buy a full size M&P .45 and I think it may very well end up being the best of all.
These pistols just fit the hand exceptionally well, they work great and its hard to say enough good about them.

A very good handgun. I got one for my Christmas present for myself.I particularly like the fantastic/ergonomic grip.

I just got a fullsize 9mm myself. I really like the ergonomics of the pistol. My everyday carry is a Glock 23. <STRIKE> My only complaint is that the trigger is lawyer-like. Perhaps it will break in.</STRIKE> My local smith says that it can be cleaned up pretty easy.

ETA: it broke in nicely

Time will tell if I switch completely to the M&P platform, but so far so good.

Having shot one (hey match directors are entitled to shoot each new gun at the range, aren't they?) I am lusting after the M&P 9 Pro, which comes with the factory match trigger and fiber optic front sight.
I shot it the first day out of the box, and it needed nothing but shooting. From one who has never made peace with the Glock "Luger handle grip" the M&P grip is just right.

After being out of gun ownership for almost 20 years, I bought the M&P9c recently.
Haven't put many rounds through it yet, but I like it a lot.
I'm also considering the Pro series.
And a 27.
And a 617.
And a 1911.
And..and..and..

Rick-is that a 45? Check my thread on the 45-what was your price if it was a 45???
Never mind-I see the "9" on the slide. Good looking gun, I wish I had waited for one with the thumb safety.

Yes M&P series is a great gun. It has many outstanding features. I would try to find someone who has 1 or a range that rents 1. I have many different weapons and like the ergonomics and trigger of the M&P. Also all the standard accessories will slip right on.

I think it's Holiday decorations Barb?
I've only had my compact 9 for a couple of weeks and 400 rounds worth. It's my first Mattel as well as my first in 9X19, and striker pistol. A Trifecta? Anyway, excellent reliability, surprising accuracy considering how unaccustomed I am as yet to the ignition system. I was prepared to loathe the thing. But she's like a lot of more conventional S&W's I've owned. In short, better than I am, regardless of how unattractive I initially may find one? But then I'm no Steve McQueen, or Paul Newman either! Hey? Wait a minute! Now that they're both RIP, I for the first time in my life, may look BETTER than they do!
(But not by much, even in their present circumstances, alas?)

It is acutaly a prototype laser with navigational lights. The lights are enough to navigate around objects & identify targets in the darkness as well as a laser. Both the nav lights & the laser can easily be turned on or off as needed. It is something that will be released early next year.

So TDR,
The thinking is, the low intensity LED's (blue) act as navigational lighting W/O casting heavy shadows, divulging the lighting source the way a full white beam will in darkness? Are they frequency correct also, for picking up blood?
