What do you use for plinking targets?

I like to use tennis balls hung on a string at 30-50 feet for a .22 handgun. Bowling pins are fun also at 25 yards for centerfire. Shotgun hulls at 25 yards for a .22 rifle also works well.

I agree shooting anything floating on water is not a good idea.

Hockey pucks make a nice moving target when rolled from your shooting position and count how many times you can hit them before they stop rolling. They can take quite a few hits before they are totally destroyed.

i have the cube...personally shoulda bought the ball...less than impressed by the cube

I saw those a couple weeks ago but didn't buy one.. I thought they would be to heavy for the .22 to move them much on impact.

How much movement do you get out of those after impact with the .22?

I like the old penny suckers. The ones that are a little bigger than a quarter to 50 cent size. You can buy them by the bag full. They are cheap.and explode when hit. stick the stem in the ground or a board or anywhere.
With halloween comming up everyone should be selling them.
I like the green one's (for eating ) and the red for shooting.

Since ive been packing to move ive been finding more and more stuff that i was going to throw away. So my buddy insisted that i use my old cds and dvd for skeet, then ive just been collecting things that make a nice pop when hit. Old light bulbs i like, but have to be the white incandescent bulbs so u can see when their hit.

the cube has been kind of a disappointment for the .22--now when you hit it with a .40 S&W thats another story :D

we are going to snag one of the spheres this weekend--another group had one 2 weekends ago and it was a hoot

:eek:please please please tell me that you are using a shotgun for the CDs?!

it goes without saying a rifle or pistol is an incredibly bad idea

The enviros would have a fit about those things.
If it's your property, do what you want. But if it's public land, I hope you pick most of it up. It makes us shooters look bad and tends to close down poular areas when there is a lot of garbage left behind.

redbull of course a shotgun

tacticool no worries its my buddies land and we do go around picking up all trash.. we prolly spend more time cleanin up then we do shooting but its in the name of fun.

I agree the cube is less than stellar when popping it with .22 rounds...kind of lost my mind for a second and forgot we were talking .22 plinking (the ball is much better). When I'm playing around with 5.56mm, .45 cal, and 12 gauge rifled slugs, that cube is a rockin!!!

Now that is what I like to hear. Wish we had more people like you in our area.

I am ashamed of some folks in my area who use our very crude public shooting/sight-in area. They bring TVs, computers and anything else they don't want to haul to the dumps and shoot everything into hundreds of pieces which are left for other responsible shooters to pick up. They have even shot the garbage cans left to put trash left over in so they look like a piece of swiss cheese. Any signs telling folks about rules in the shooting area are also shot beyond recognition. And even traffic signs in rural areas are blasted with no regard to the houses behind these signs.
A few bad apples ( slobs ) will always ruin it for the rest of us responsible hunter/shooters/humans.

Sorry if I got off topic on this one.
