What is this 44mag???

I am looking at a 44mag, but it is something of a puzzle to me.

It is marked 29-5. But, it has a 6" half lug barrel, a ramp on ramp red front sight, a fluted cylinder and is a square butt. It is not the 29-5 classic with the full lug.

It also has 3T's. Ser# is BPA 64XX

Any ideas? I am leaning towards just a run of the mill 29-5 made sometime in 1993, although the SCS&W doesn't list ser number prefix.

Perhaps no one understands what your question is here.
Do you distinguish between a half-lug barrel and a barrel with an ejector shroud? The 29-5s I've seen did not have the barrel with the full underlug, though there's an auction site with a couple full-lugs for sale. Why do you think this 29-5 is not the 29-5 that you are looking for? Solely due to the serial number?

while most of the 29-5's that show up tend to be the full lug version, there are half lug guns around as well. The dash 5 was simply another engineering change denotation. The -5 ushered in the change to the entire, full endurance package.

The one you are looking at would be a gun I would be highly interested in myself. All the original parts- sights, triggers and hammers, SB grip, with the entire endurance package.

If it's in good shape, buy it!
