Legal to own, or not...my non-S&W grail gun is a MP 40 "Schmeisser".
As far as Smiths, a 3" 19

S&W 1917 .45 ACP since seeing Indiana Jones wield one in Raiders of the Lost Ark. There is something magical about this revolver for me. I've held them at gun shows but could not afford the $800+ for original items.
I understand S&W make them again, but I want a clean, honestly-used war-issued specimen. The Colt version is not as nice to me. I inspected them side by side at the gun show.
Lets say, you walk into your local gun store. The owner pulls a box holding your personal "Grail gun". What is it, How much would you pay, and why?
If you already have it, please post some pictures.
Mine is a 2 1/2" S&W model 66. I'd easily pay $450-$500 for a pristine one. I have almost always thought it to be one of the most beautiful revolvers made.![]()
What is your personal grail gun?
Interesting question, because I just bought another box of .32 S&W long ammo today that I'll probably never use. All I have chambered for that is an early '80's H&R revolver. So why do I keep buying that ammo when I see it?
I think many of you know the answer to that: Because then I'll have a good excuse to buy that early series model 16 or K32 Masterpiece that shows up for an affordable price. (Yeah, that'll happen.) If that isn't in the cards, then I'll have a reason to buy a nice old model 30.
