Number of rounds thru the S & W Shield

I got mine last Saturday which was 4/21/2012. It rained on Sunday so I got to the range on Monday and fired 75 rounds out of it, 50 RN and 25 JHP. No problem of any kind with either magazine. The longer one is more comfortable to shoot but I will be carrying the shorter one because its easer to conceal. It did not hurt my hand like tha Taurus slim. The Ruger was brutal to fire, I used a glove! I was able to keep all my shots on paper at 15 yards. The shots were about 3-4 inchs to the left. I made the adjustmaent with the front sight like the owners manual suggested. They are now point of aim point of impact. Elevation was correct. I have my Ruger LC9 and Taurus slim in 9 MM, up for sale. I also have the M & P 9 MM compact. I may keep that one. Smith & Wesson really did get it right with the Shield! I am going to work on the 25 yard range later in the week.

I've got about 400 though mine, my wife has 200. Both guns are less than a week old. Plan on shooting again tomorrow.

First 100 were WWB from Wally World, the rest have been my reloads; 115 grain Hornady FMJHP, 4.6 grains of Bullseye, CCI primers. No failures, super accurate and fun to shoot.

I just picked mine up yesterday and took it to the range today. I fired 200 rounds; 30 of which was my department's off-duty qualification course. Shot a 97 % (missed a perfect by 1/4" by throwing one out in the B Zone). The little gun shot great. I was very happy with the accuracy, trigger pull and general handling characteristics. This will make an outstanding back-up and warm-weather off-duty piece. It definitely beats my LC9.

450 rounds of S+B 115gr RN, 8 rounds of Hornady carry rounds. Shot 150 first range trip, cleaned and carried. Went back today and fired 300 rounds. No issues that I would attribute to the gun thus far. I have had 3 stove pipes but those were on me limp wristing and poor grip. One happened from the draw, I would classify it as a poor grip from the shooter because I felt the gun move during recoil. The other two, shooting weak hand. Same thing, the shooter.

Overall, I am very pleased with the guns performance and accuracy. Someone mentioned it handles like a larger gun and I agree that it does. The softer recoil and trigger are far better than my wifes PM9 and allow for faster follow up shots. I have found I prefer the extended mag, my hands are pretty large and it fits me better.

Right at 1000. 1 failure to extract with a 115 Blazer (aluminium) ball round around the 600 rd mark (pulled the case 1/2 to 2/3 the way out). I have fired numerous types of ammo through it and believe the above malfunction to be ammo related as the few boxes of it I fired seemed to be loaded a bit light.

Put 375 through her this morning, after picking it up yesterday. 20 rounds of 124 gr +P carry ammo, and the rest 124 gr Remington FMJ. This is definitely a winner, superb gun. It handles great, it has a good crisp break on the trigger, positive reset, and points intuitively. It conceals extremely well. I've been through a bunch of guns in the last year or so, looking for that perfect carry gun for me. Again, for me, this is the one. Just need night sights on it

200 down the pipe on first trip and this pistol has a lot of promise. No issues and accuracy seems very good for a shorty. It is a keeper! Did a Revlone "Gold Inlay" job on the slide and looks very awsome. I will post photos as soon as I can.

Don't be too quick adjusting sights. If you are right handed focus on your wrist. It is common for right handed shooters when we squeeze the trigger to twist our wrists to the left and the opposite for lefties.

I would suggest before you adjust to have another shooter try your gun. A leftie would be my first choice. If they shoot your gun to the right they are flexing their wrist when they squeeze off a round.
