What is your Shield round count?

1325 of assorted, most WWB, Hornady 147 TAP (Carry), Speer 115gr, Blazer 115 and Win 124gr NATO.

Not a single malfunction or problem. I do have a friend who has one also, and his front dot sight shot out, but that's an easy fix with testors white model paint.

100 rounds of Speer Lawman FMJ
30 rounds of Blazer FMJ
25 rounds of Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel +P

Not a problem. Short barrel +P didn't feel much different than regular FMJ. They did seem to hit low vs. FMJs. Otherwise, a very accurate pistol.

150 of 115 grain of some brand the range sold. Had one round where the primer was struck and the round didn't fire.

Put it back in the mag and the round fired.

I put another 100rds of federal, 25rds of Hornady Critical Defense, and 25 rds of Federal HST through it last weekend and have still not had any malfunctions since day one. :)

I am at about 1500 now. Zero issues.
-Slide stop is now able to be used as a slide relese with ease
-Magazines are easier to load.
-Gun easier to rack.
-Still shooting groups with all the holes touching at 7 yards.

Only problem is i need 3x8 round mags to do IDPA with it and i could not find any.

If S&W is listening, please make them available. My patience wears thin.

500 roughly and not an issue. I do not think I will have one as well.... Great shooter.

none, yet....

can't pick it up until next tuesday, unless my CCW permit comes in before then.

but am really looking forward to it, especially after what i have read here....

Less than 100. Bought so many guns at the same time I find it difficult to remember its on my hip when at the range. Most times the RO ask and that's when I remember.

Sent using Tapatalk without spelling or grammer check.

I'm at around 650 now; mostly FMJ but some Hornaday Critical Defense JHP as well. Zero malfunctions; all ammo has fed impeccably. This is one fine pistol.

Over 1500, all FMJ 115g and 124gr. Had a couple of jams early on where the shell did not eject (Remington UMC 115gr FMJ). But still very happy with it.

At this point, I have 956 rounds through it, with (only) two malfunctions to date, both FTE's. One occurred between 700-750 rounds while firing Federal Champion 115gr, and the second occurred this past Friday at about 920 rounds with Winchester White Box 115gr. I really can't attribute either to limp-wristing, as I was the firer in both cases and apply a crush grip (to tremors and back off a tiny amount).

I have fired the following ammo types to date:

50 Remington UMC 115gr FMJ (no problems)
50 Federal HST 124 gr +P JHP (no problems)
100 Federal American Eagle 124gr FMJ (no problems)
140 Winchester White Box 115gr FMJ (1 FTE)
16 Winchester NATO 124gr FMJ (no problems)
600 Federal Champion 115gr FMJ (1 FTE)

In both cases of the FTE, the slide was jammed partially back, with a fired case in the chamber and a new round "trying" to feed. In both cases, I had to drop the magazine, lock the slide to the rear (with some resistance from the jam), and manually extract the fired case. Then after re-inserting the magazine, the rest of the rounds fed and fired fine.

I am receiving my Concealed handgun permit on July 12th, and was hoping to use the Shield in that role as an EDC pistol. I'm a bit nervous about the FTEs, especially after 700/900 rounds. I guess I would feel better if they both happened in the first 50 or so?

I contacted S&W customer service, and they are certainly willing to take a look at it. They did say they wouldn't worry about it unless it continues, and it may possibly be ammo-related.

40cal
140 rounds Federal Hi Shock HP (fairly Cheap)
20 rounds Speer Gold Dot HP (not so cheap)
All 165 gr
No failures of any kind. Feels really great to have a superior weapon after my Diamondback 9mm disaster. The Diamondback was a great concept, but my experience and my brother in laws experience with the Diamondback resulted in two quick trade-ins.

Only like 700 since april. If I wasn't downstate I'd probably be popping them more often since I have a hunting camp in my hometown.

Did you drift the front or rear sight?

Front sight is the one to move.

500 rounds of assorted handloads 124 gr. plated
100 rounds of range pickups of assorted weights (I am a RSO and we find a lot of ejected loaded ammo at cleanup)
Zero malfunctions

Bought my .40 on 070812 have range time three for total of 150 rounds.

600+ Rounds of Walmart federal 100 bulk pack. No issues. 9mm

9mm with 525 rounds since 11/16/2012

300 WWB - Had 3 fail to fires with this ammo. 2 of these 3 were likely user error. Also, I have decided not to use this ammo anymore.
100 Federal Champion - flawless
100 MagTech - Had 1 FTE, but this was an odd situation. I released the mag with a round still in the chamber and then fired the round. The slide stuck back on the casing that was about half way ejected. This very well could have been user error.
25 Hornady Z-Max - flawless

Less than 1% failure rate so far, and I'm not comfortable even saying these failures should be attributed to the Shield. I'm loving this gun and feeling more and more comfortable with it each time I go to the range.

I have had my Shield less than 2 weeks and have been to the range 1 time - 100 rounds WWB, 25 rounds Federal Champion, no problems.

1st Shield acquired April 2012 (9mm) - 1945 rounds - 0 failures
2nd Shield acquired 11/2012 (9mm) - 425 rounds - 0 failures
3rd Shield acquired 11/2012 (40) - 307 rounds - 1 FTExtract - ammo related

60 rounds. I know, I know.....Im so ashamed but my M&P22 and XDm are getting the action as of late.

Hayden.

Two 12 round clips under 250 that I shot through my M&P 9c. My Shield has had one FTE when I let another shooter try it out (I figured she limp wristed it.) Other than that no problems. By the way they've all been Remington UMC 115g rounds. I have found that some of the federal 127g HP rounds seem to snag when taking them out of my magazine by hand. Have not had a chance to shoot any of the Federals so I don't know what will happen in live fire yet.

Shield 40, have put 220 rounds through it all 180 grain, some flat point and some hollow point duty ammo. Everything has worked as it should. Several other officers who have fired it have been impressed.

About 150 of 115 grain mixed HP'S and FMJ. Tried some 100 gr today using 4.9 gr Win 231. Those didn't eject all of the time. Need to find the right amount of powder for them. Neighbor gave me 6 or 7 boxes of them so hate not to use then. The 115 gr worked good.
