What revolvers do you use as a CCW?

I carry a 1911 the vast majority of the time but when I carry a revolver it is a 638 a couple of speed strips.

Usual EDC is a Model 38, sometimes a newer no lock 442. My Colt Cobra is retired to the safe.

All I've ever carried, concealed or open, is a 4" 686 (no dash). This was my service revolver in the 80s. However, I like the choices offered, too.

340SC with Crimson Trace (short) laser grips for Summer carry around town. 329PD with X-frame (.460/.500) grips for bow hunting and backpacking in bear country. NOT particularly fun to shoot either gun but very light and dependable TMDs.

S&W M&P340 .357 Magnum - is hammerless - carry in a pocket holster in the Winter and on my hip in warm weather. No possible snag on clothes by the hammer or accusation in court of unnecessary or negligent discharge - can't cock the gun. Loaded with Gold Dot Short Barrel JHP .38+P's as a balance of stopping power and comfort shooting it.

My S&W 38

I love my J-Frame S&W 38, Model 637. The barrel is only 1.875"! I was a little concerned about it's accuracy when I bought it; having carried a 4-in. and shot 6-in. in competition but that little snub nose is dead-on! I was really impressed. It's an Airweight, great little carry gun, but my next wheel gun will probably be a 38/357 again, with the stubby barrel.

I take a lot of grief from my plastic fantastic friends but all I carry is revolvers. I mainly rotate through these three right now:

I like those grips on the ruger... can you tell me more about them?

+1. Only a M638 for me.....

If you are looking for something light and handy; I'd recommend this 15 oz Model 38. Rides in a pocket easily and I like having the Single Action option..

I put Hogue cocobolo grips on it. Works great with +p ammo.

Revolver carry

It's been a long time since I carried a revolver. When I worked undercover, I carried a Charter Arms 44 Bulldog. If the weather allowed I occasionally carried a S&W Model 29 w/ 4" barrel loaded with 44 Spl. Surprisingly, nobody ever noticed it. And it was not all that uncomfortable to carry.(don't laugh because my girth allowed it). I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, but it was the in the days when Dirty Harry movies were popular. And transported prisoners were intimidated by the 44.

Depends . . . in a pocket 442, 438, 36, 12, 296 or PM9. Not a 'deep cover' situation . . . usually some sort of .44 Spl: 24-3, 624, 21-4, 1st or 3rd Mod HE, or a 325NG, or maybe a 329PD.

I rarely carry a revolver, but when I do, I carry a S&W 442. It's been 100% reliable. Being so light, it can be a handful with +P loads.

I carry one of two snubbies concealed: either my 1968 vintage Colt Cobra or my Smith Model 12, round-butt, Airweight. I like having the advantage of having six rounds in a relatively lightweight and small revolver. Of course (unfortunately), you'll have to scour gun shows, pawn shops or auction houses on the internet to find one-and they're kind of pricey when you do.
