What S&W Revolver do you regret letting go of the most?

I regret parting with my 696. I believed some negative press in a gun rag and traded it in on a Kimber Custom .45 ACP which I sold years later to a friend. I also regret passing up on all the S&W's sitting in my local pawn shops right now, but I don't have the cash.

I've only sold one. A nickel 58 that was NIB condition. Only had it a couple of weeks when I sold it for double my money. Had a kid on the way and bills to pay.

I purchased a 6" model 48 around 1976 or 77 and let it go about 10 years later on a trade. I have wanted one ever since the day I let that one go. I wish they would come out with the 648 again.

A pre-war 38/44 HD in nickle, 5 inch. I offered it for sale in the classifieds for $700. No one made an offer, wound up selling it on GB for $450. Thought it would go for alot more.
I should have just kept it, how many pre-war nickle HD's are there?

While I realize ths is the S+W forum, my biggest regret was letting go of my very first revolver. 357 Mag Colt Python, royal blue with a 4 inch barrel. I
traded it for a S+W 586 and $100. I guess even then I knew I was a Smith +Wesson guy.

That's funny Tom. I did the opposite, traded a 586 to a friend about 15 years ago for a Python in Electroless Nickle. Has box and papers, still like new. He no longer has the 586, I still have the Python.

That's funny Tom. I did the opposite, traded a 586 to a friend about 15 years ago for a Python in Electroless Nickle. Has box and papers, still like new. He no longer has the 586, I still have the Python.

That is funny. Oh, no big surprise. I dont have he 586 anymore. I remember selling it for $250 to a guy at work, then bought a 686 from a friend for the same $250. I still have the 686.

Was wondering what S&W revolver people regret letting go of (sold, traded, etc.) the most.

About 12 years ago I had two that I regret trading away. The first was a 686 2 1/2 inch barrel in mint condition. The other was a 66 2 1/2 inch barrel also in excellent condition. The 66 had the trigger smoothed and it was like glass!

Don't remember what I traded for back then, but that is among my biggest bad choices.

Older and wiser beats younger and stupid any day.

The only Smith I ever regreat selling is the only Smith I ever sold (it will never happen again) a model 29 stainless 4 inch model that I bought from a guy that fired 2 rounds and decided it was too much gun for him, I ended up selling it and I have regreated that ever since.
But I just bought a 29-8 mountain gun to replace it and I can sleep better at night..

I had 6 'J' frames at one time. The worst blunder was selling the 940. Trading the 1955 Bodyguard for a 442 was a good move, but now I have to replace 442. I don't want to speak of the 3' 36's. I still own 3' mod.30 RB if i can get it back from the sister-in-law. The 21-4 is the latest regret, but that's only a matter of time & money. My other .44 spl,s anyone can have. If you can get to'em before my body cools.
