Hello everyone I am NEW to the forum just got my 629 6.5" 44 mag for christmas...barely had time to shoot at all... have got some advice from others BUT in order to shoot accurately out to 100 yds... and I am sure it will take TIME AND MUCH PRACTICE is locking arms/elbows going to be norm or can I "loosely" hold with surprise jump SQUEEEZE...to attain good accuracy while Hunting with it...this may sound a little strange but I am at a loss here and do NOT want to develope bad habits right out the bag...this is a genuine request for advice on shooting stance--hold required to utilize this fine Pistol...oh yea I do reload as much as possible and plan on using the BTB 250 or 290 LFN gc bullets at about 1200 fps I have been told NOT to hurt this pistol and 1200 MAX is more than enough to get it done... so I don't think recoil will be that much of an issue...getting use to the trigger and weapon will be done with MILD loads for sure but ultimately I got it JUST for Hunting deer and pigs and... turkeys if I get good enough...thanks for any help here fire away

1.) locking arms/elbows going to be norm or
2.) can I "loosely" hold with surprise jump SQUEEEZE...
3.)so I don't think recoil will be that much of an issue...

Never heard the term "surprise jump squeeze" before.

#3 will certainly become a "issue" if you do #1.

Good luck with your new 629.

Bench Shooting Model 629

Welcome to the forum. A lot of infomation can be had here. With your training you state a bench postion. I am assuming your refering to a position with a handgun or rifle using auxiliary support known as the Benchrest position. I call it the zeroing postion because from that if you go to any other position, offhand(standing), sitting or prone if you miss it's operator error. There is a current thread here (Model 29-3 Silhouette Opinions Needed) on page 3 you will see a collection of Bambi's laid out for steaks and sausages. They must be doing something right.

I guess I kinda said it wrong yes a shooting bench would be used to sight in but not to hunt...the type of "hold" is what I am looking for if anyone has a favorite or one that really helps for hunting...thanks again
for any response or opinion !

for hunting...you may consider a shooting stick...i use a 44 mag as well as a 500 mag to hunt...the stick really helps
