What was your first dogs name?

Lassie was a collie mix,I was maybe 5.We got a dog when my son was two that we named sandy. He called her sandylassie [emoji39]

The first dog I remember is Kim. He was a boxer. Yes, he. Kim died of cancer when I was pretty small. Then we got Frisky, a poodle. Sadly Frisky ran out in front of a truck and got run over while I watched. I think I was six or seven at the time. It was quite a traumatic moment in my young life.

A beautiful male collie named Suntan. I used to sleep with him outside in his dog house. It was great training for being married!

A gentle, loving, giant of a dog that was protective of me and my older sister.

My first dog was a Collie Shep mixed female that was named Penny. I was a year old when my parents got her. We grew up together and at 17 I had to take her for her last trip to the vet! She was a good dog and it was sad to see her go!
My current dog Boo kind of resembles her, a miniature version and that’s why I rescued her and took her in...

Bonivard. We had a well worn path along our fenceline where that pup ran back and forth. So I named him after the prisoner of Chillon,

Lord Byrons poem
The Prisoner of Chillon - Wikipedia

[ Eternal Spirit of the chainless Mind!
Brightest in dungeons, Liberty! thou art:
For there thy habitation is the heart—
The heart which love of thee alone can bind;
And when thy sons to fetters are consigned—
To fetters, and the damp vault's dayless gloom,
Their country conquers with their martyrdom,
And Freedom's fame finds wings on every wind.
Chillon! thy prison is a holy place,
And thy sad floor an altar—for 'twas trod,
Until his very steps have left a trace
Worn, as if thy cold pavement were a sod,
By Bonnivard!—May none those marks efface!
For they appeal from tyranny to God.]

I like to think that maybe a little of Bonivards story shaped my own destiny. He was a loyal, dedicated seeker of independence and justice.
( and a bit of an iconoclast) ;)

His name was Carmel, I got him on a camping trip with my dad and mom. He turned out to be a family protector we had to put him in the bedroom everytime someone came over to visit

Shannon. A stray German Shepherd we took in when I was maybe 10. Had some behavioral issues. Somehow got over a 6 foot chainlink fence and killed someone’s goat. Inflicted many serious injuries upon other dogs and wildlife in general. Liked to run the property line on the street, racing against passing cars. If you were in the know, you would accelerate. Punctured at least one radial tire with a bite to a car that stopped instead. My brother and I clocked around 26 or 27 mph once. But she was a total *****cat around humans. Think she’d been beat pretty bad before. Dad shelled out a lot of $ on account of that dog.

Growing up as an Army brat and moving around we didn't have a dog when I was younger. Yet, we often visited my grandparents, and their Airedale was named Rhyll.

Before Dad went to Vietnam, and knowing that he would retire upon his return, we got a Boston Terrier named Cricket.

Our first dog as a married couple, 41 years ago, was a stray lab mix that we named Ginger.

All of these were females, as have been most of our dogs. However, our latest dog, and the smartest of the lot, was a male named Rico. We had to put him down about a year ago due to bone cancer, and we haven't the heart, yet, to adopt another fur baby.

My sister and I were playing in the yard one March day heard whimpering from the ditch,we found a small puppy. Our folks let us keep and she was a beagle mix. My sister named her Suzy Q after a doll she wanted. I was 6 at the time and Suzy Q died when I was 21. She was the only dog my folks ever allowed us to have.
