What was your first new-bought S&W revolver?

My first "new in the box" S&W was a Mod. 37, flat latch. I still have the box with the cleaning rod, brush and mop, unopened in the plastic tube.

This revolver was purchased in 1980-81 and believe it or not, it remains unfired. I have carried it and shot its cousin, a Mod 36 that was on "loan."

My first S&W was a 28-2 4" that I bought in January 1976 and paid $145.00. I found a card recently with that information and the serial #, N238551. In 1980 I traded it to my police academy roommate for a 4" 19-3. He worked at a PD that issued the model 28 and wanted a gun in better shape than the beater he was issued. I no longer have that 19-3 and I don't think John, my old roommate, has the 28 either.

My second new S&W was purchased in February 1976: a 2.5" blue 19-3 which I still have.

My first gun and first S&W revolver, a new S&W Model 19-3 (6 shot) 6” Blue .357 Mag. Cost - $159 (4 1974)

I bought a gun because as I was working as a field Paramedic in Los Angeles, down in Watts area at 2AM on an emergency call. This guy held a double barrel 12ga. Coach gun to my head as I helped his little boy with his deep cut. I thought to myself, 'I will never be unarmed again.' and never have since.

it is a great gun, shot the hell out of it. Now it is retired.

A Wilson-tuned stainless 686. Unfortunately it was banned in the UK following the Dunblane School shootings, and I had to have it deactivated in order to keep it. It was two years old at the time [emoji3525]

Yes it is interesting

Not nearly as interesting as most on here. I guess it's because I buy older ones.

442PC I bought new in 2018.

Limited edition. Was well built and tuned by the Performance Center

625-3

625-3 of 1989. Dad bought it for me. I liked it because I shot everything from hand loaded light loads to very stout big semi wad cutter super loads out of it. Sold it after I inherited dad Colt mkIV Series 70 and didn’t shoot it for many years. Bought a 3 inch 66 and a 5 inch 686 with the money and don’t miss it. Besides that Colt and the National Match Garand I inhereted, the nickel 36 my brother inherited, we have no emotional attachment to guns. If someone loves it more than me they can have it

My first brand new one was this 686 no dash in 1982, ordered it from a J&G Sales ad in Shotgun News. My Dad made this custom box and gave it to me for Christmas that year.

When I turned 21 years of age in 1973, my first gun purchase was a spanking brand new Model 14 with an 8-3/8" barrel. I bought it at "The Grant Boys" in Costa Mesa, CA, for $125. It was equipped with walnut magnas and a target hammer and trigger.

My second purchase was six months later when I bought a new Model 60 2-inch at Warner's Gun Shop, in Fullerton, CA, for $150. I was very lucky to get that Model 60, as most of them were going to law enforcement officers at the time.

Both guns were traded off some years later.

What was your first new-bought S&W revolver?

How was the deactivation process implemented?
Larry

I took it to my local RFD and they sent it away to a Deactivator.

My first new S&W revolver was a Model 19 two and 1/2 inch barrel. Paid the retail price of $170.00 plus sales tax, IIRC. Gunshop was in Peru, Indiana, and it was probably in 1973, when I was 21 years old. I was a fool for selling that gun. I spent countless hours stoning and polishing parts, tuning springs, learning to work with the S&W action. It had the sweetest K frame action I have ever felt. I shot it so much it became a little loose. Could have fixed with a new hand and maybe a cylinder bolt. There is so much stupidity in youth. :(

My first was a model 25 in 45 LC for shooting bowling pins in 1990. Shortly after I bought it the model 610 came out and I swapped the model 25 for it.
