What's a NIB S&W Highway Patrolman worth? The seller is asking $800 firm.

Once this person purchased the Revolver from a retail store it ceased to be NIB.it is now LNIB.I would start at $625 and hope to buy it at $700.As far as being an investment? not even close.Mutual funds are the only thing worth putting money in for long term investing.

There was a S-prefix M26 no dash on guns intl for $1100 but I dont see it now. there are many on GB, they are not NIB Sprefix, but I have not had good experiences on GB. I have several and they SHOOT BEAUTIFULLY.

I am looking at a Model 28-2 in 4 inch that has been reblued and the seller started out at 550 and is now down to 490. So I think your like new with all the accoutrements might be a bit high, but how often do you have the option of looking the gun over and handling it before you buy......always negotiate you never know if they will take it. Good luck.

That was me. I started it at $525, which I thought was a fair price. Had a lot of callers and sent out a lot of pics but no buyers. I adjusted it to $490 and received more callers and sent more pics out. I had requests to ship it, hold it for a week (or till payday), and ridiculously low offers. I spent too much time talking/texting on the phone and sending out pics so I just pulled the listing. I was trying to make some room in the safe because somehow I ended up with more guns than I can shoot. I'll take it out next time I go shooting and I'll be glad I didn't sell it.

Punisher0822 go ahead and buy that 28-2 for the $800 (especially if it is NIB).

Here's a pic of the one I had for sale for $490.

I guess it's true that 28-2s aren't scarce, but it certainly isn't common to see a NIB 28-2 for sale, and for only $800 at that. Not around where I live, anyway.

Matter of fact, I was at a big gun show here over the weekend, and I didn't see one single 28-2 for sale in any condition.

This is a valid point, but I would not base market analysis too heavily on gun show inventory. Just like us wheelgun lovers in general are the minority, people who buy tables at gun shows are probably going to take the items that are in highest demand and most likely to sell. Plastic pistols and black rifles are pretty consistent sellers these days compared to that LNIB 28-2....

I offered the guy $700 and he wouldn't budge. My gut told me to pass, so I did. I really want a 29-2 6 inch blued. I will wait for my unicorn.

Patience is a virtue in collecting. A good deal on a good gun will come along. Keep you gun money around for those guns you really want, such as your 6" 29-2.

Just for fun, I have subscribed to this thread.

In 2 to 3 years, I'm going to bring it back from the dead, so we can all have a laugh about how cheap the OP could have gotten this gun for!

Should of purchased it and flipped it for $1,200/$1,500 to pay for the one you want. Just don't fall I love with it inbetween.

My want and desire list is thrown out the window. I grab anything were the condition is between 98% to 99%+/nib. Nickel finish is a plus.
I grabbed a few calibers that weren't on my list anyhow. Things change direction wise. In pristine nib condition I'd be kidding myself not to grab it. I can't sleep at night anyway why make it worse? I just want a few nice ones.

Experience is the key to knowledge. Look at the auction prices? And there condition? What's wrong with this picture?

If this gun was at an auction sight it could bring $2k? Put a reserve on it. The collectors would battle over it.

When the air clears and this musical chair gun selling game after its all done changing owners and things become rare finds again "if" you can find one we will pay dearly for a nib any s&w n frame. I think the m-27 & m-28 will be really sought after in the near future. The sky is the limit on the prices.

Look at the pythons?
