A while ago, I started a thread on this early post war M&P snub that had been refinished and modified to sport a set of custom grips: http://smith-wessonforum.com/s-w-ha...bbie-farrant-twist.html?473843=#post139070021

I loved the gun, but struggled with the modified hammer and trigger. With a kind PM from one of our great forum members, I was able to procure the proper transitional hammer/trigger, that lucky for me just dropped in. In replacing the hammer/trigger, I remembered that when I purchased the gun, it came with a cool vintage basketweave holster that also needed some time in front of the camera... So here she is, all fixed up and ready to go to church in her Sunday best.:)

Before:

After (with the beautifully-tooled chesnut Clark Holster):

I'd love to see your snubs and the holsters they ride in...

Much improved with the blue/brown case coloring on a properly contoured hammer instead of that shiny customized piece of metal. I like the leather and don't mind the Farrant chamfered frame with those distinctive stocks on top of the steel. Nice!

Wow that's a cool little snubby. I like it. Thanks for sharing! Neat holster too.. never heard of Clark Holster though.

Clark holsters were made prior to WW II-I have a mid 1930's brochure advertising their holsters-and were favored by law enforcement in the 1940's and '50's. Clark was acquired by Bucheimer in the 1960's I believe resulting in the Bucheimer-Clark Co. Clark held several patents that were important in holster design.
Great gun with the right holster.

Not highly modified, but no longer stock ;)

How about a Non-Registered Magnum refinished in nickel with some stag stocks, riding in a S.D. Myres floral carved holster.

And here is a early M&P which has been shortened at some time in it's life. It has very nice mother of pearl steer head stocks. It too rides in a floral carved S.D. Myres holster

Here is an early Chief's Special that has been bobbed. The holster is a floral carved job that came from a good friend here on the forum (the badge as well).

The top two were on display at the Baton Rouge symposium and the last one is one of my favorite carry guns....most of the time it rides in a bandana in my pocket.

Thanks for sharing Richard...let's see if we can coax some really neat packages out of hiding ;)

I'm a snubby fan also and a holster fan too. I've posted this before but this thread fits it perfectly. The first gun is a pre war 2" M&P with ivories and a S D Myers Floral carved holster. I do have the original black hard rubber grips for this gun. The other gun is a Colt Detective Special in a black S D Myers floral carved holster. The Smith is quite a bit larger than the "Dick Special".

Bought this 1985 vintage Colt Detective Special with custom grips and Safariland 18 holster in 1990 for my wife's father which he liked very much. It was returned to us upon his passing. It's the only Colt in the house but I do carry it occasionally.

I still use this old holster around the farm. I usually carry that J frame in a Bianchi 5 BH. Nothing as lovely as what I've see on this thread, but they work!:o
Peace,
Gordon

Not as fancy as the rest of what I see here but just a cut down non heat treated 4th change with the sweetest double and single action I have ever pulled a trigger on. Along with a vintage Buckeimer cop holster and a set of modified targets A very talented gunsmith put a lot of love into this revolver and I carry this rig quite often.:)

A recently acquired holster for my favorite "concealed carry" piece... Okay, so it's not so "concealable", but it is leather and it does hide the barrel...

Reminds me of the movie City Heat with Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds. Burt pulls out a long barreled automatic and smirks at Clint and Clint then pulls a 10 or 12 inch revolver. Fun movie.

Here's one of my choppers, a transitional 1926 Model .44 HE Military paired with a holster obtained from forum member VM. The holster has ink markings on the back but I cannot identify the maker.

I own a bunch of old "pouch type" holsters that from a nostalgic point I really love. Some were my Dad's and most are mine that were used many years ago. While I do like them and wear one on a rare nostalgic occasion, the quality, ease of draw, retention and ruggedness of the newer style Horsehide holsters are real hard to beat. I no longer care for straps, snaps, screws, velcro, or springs to retain my CCW. Just hard to beat a proper hand boned holster made from good Horsehide.

That said, I DO LOVE those old holster!!
