What's Up with Online Gun Prices???

.......

I'm glad I live here and not in CA,NY, or New Jersey.

Amen (Mississippi).

It may not be related to gun laws at all, but all 3 of the states you mentioned recently made the top 10 list of those states where people are generally LEAST happy.

On the other hand...
The Top 10 Least Happy States To Live In:

1. New York
2.Connecticut
3.New Jersey
4.Michigan
5.Indiana
6.California
7.Illinois
8.Ohio
9.Massachusetts
10.Rhode Island

See a gun-friendly state in the mix? Possibly Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, all of which are being crushed by the recession. Otherwise, the states listed are among the least gun friendly, more liberal, over-regulated, and higher income.

Just visited my favorite dealer today. I have not been back to his shop in months. I have bought numerous guns off him in the past years and always found his prices (older collectable S&Ws only) to be competive.Usually he is spot on with market value - occasionally a bit lower, which is when I tend to buy :). Today he was "way" over priced on everthing I saw - upwards of 50 to 75% over market. He had a few nice pieces but knowing that he rarely comes off much from his list I couldn't even begin to talk to him about the guns - they were rediculus!!

I can't figure out why everyone is so astonished about the prices of guns increasing because compared to other goods they have more or less avoided inflation over the years. When I look at the price it costs me to buy a new production model 29 $1100+ I have no problem spending 1200+ on a 29-2 or any p&r gun for that matter that has 3 times the workmanship. Buy a 29-2 for $1200 today and sit on it for 20 years and you will not go wrong.

Well Class III you got a deal on those two, that price for the model 12 is about what a crappy mossburg costs at Big 5. Anyway if your careful there are deals to be founds. Now if I can just find that registered magnum for 475.00 I will be happy:)

most of you are lucky to even have a gunshop close to you. in my area we travel to dsm (85miles), or iowa city (90miles) for anything close to a shop and at those locations are the big stores, bass pro, scheels, and the like. gunshows are where most of the action is in this area and of course it is buyer beware.

guess you notice with the exception of california, all are northern states? .....there is this online retailer who has had a model 28-2 in 6 inch for over 6 months listed at $595.00. the other day I was looking through his list and noticed that same gun now for $795.00. very strange business practice..... if something doesn't sell, raise the price. hmmm I wonder what fool will bite?

Take Connecticut off your list, sure we have issues but you can own anything you want except a few "named" assault rifles. Skipping around the list is easily done, everyday.

We are not NJ, NY, MASS!!
We have ccw permits without strings.
We own unlimited firearms and unlimited magazine capacity. Yes, even black rifles. We can own full auto or suppressors with proper tax stamp. Ammo can be shipped into the state from outside.
Rifles and shotguns are not registered, handguns unfortunately are. Named Clinton era assault weapons are registered.

Only thing wrong about this state is the very high cost of living, heck you would think your living in NYC.

i think my local gunshop owner goes off the bluebook value, because every time i research the price of a S&W he has its very close to the SCSW book. Alot of sellers on GB think their item is made of gold, i've bid on a couple victory models on there and didnt even meet reserve at $400 and gave up

My apologies, Mr. Nut. ALL states have some issues for sure, and I actually knew CT was exceptionally gun friendly for a northeast state but missed it. It does, however, fit the other categories I think? (politically liberal, rich, over taxed and evidently not too happy).

I didn't make the list, I read it in an AP article unrelated to guns in any way. I don't recall the source or criteria, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Think it's just a coincidence that nearly every 'unhappy' state is also politically liberal, over taxed, and gun hostile? I don't believe it.

As mentioned previously, because of the roster here in California we have inflated prices for pre lock s&w of usually 1 to 3 hundred more than similar items on line. If someone has something for sale on line that you really want you have to jump on the sale. It might be a year or more till another one is for sale in your half of the state.

gbw;1234328 It does said:
After I skimmed the post I think I came across strong, sorry about that, didn't mean too. We have many who move into this state from nearby corrupting the firearm views of the state. It's slowly turning anti gun. Everyday are freedoms are being attacked. This state is boxed in surrounded by extreme liberal views.
I figure in 5-10 years we will be just like NY. Your statement above is exactly correct. ;)

I recently bought a nice condition P&R M66 and a decent looking slim barrel M64 off GB for less than $350 each. About the same time, I saw a really worn looking M64 go for over $400. Go figure.

I know what you mean. Sometimes there are deals on GB. I bought a new S&W 1911 108284 for $870 plus $15 shipping last March, which was less than local dealers and Buds.

And even issue them to us NYer's.;)

NY licenses are LIFETIME, no silly renewals here.
BTW, the only thing that makes me sad about NY is the winter weather, otherwise I'd never move.
