What's you favorite S&W revolver Model and Why?

I vote for sturdy simplicity. The 3" model 13. Don't need any more, don't want any less. It ain't shiny, the sights are fixed, the ejector isnt shrouded. But it shoots as well as I can, and delivers a stunning whack on the noggin of some miscreant.

I like my simple fixed sight models with 4" heavy barrels - 10-6 & 13-3. Nickel guns with Executioner grips and Tyler - T adapters; they look and feel perfectly proportioned and are spot on accurate.

Man that's like asking which one of your children you like best. supposed to love em all...that being said, in my S&W family I have a redheaded stepchild model 58 41 mag. that I love best . Why ???? I guess because that model and caliber don't get no respect and I usually root for under dogs...so thats my favorite.

Looks like the M 10's have it. My favorite too.
a) They are plentiful
b) They are cheap
c) They are accurate
d) They are lots of fun
e) A shooter that you dont have to be careful with when you throw it on the table or it falls on the ground.
f) Very low maintenance (like all Smiths).
g) They are cheap - oh, I already said that.

To me it has to be the Model 27 because I think it's well made and is the best looking S&W revolver ever made.

That gun for me has always been a blued 6-1/2" 44 Magnum, and I actually prefer the looks of the early- to mid-'60s Model 29-2s to the older guns. Of course I will admit 27s are pretty good looking, too. :)

But guns aren't just for looking. If I had to pick one S&W revolver for everything I use a revolver for, it would probably be a 4-inch Model 19. The 29 is great gun and I would hate to do without one, but it is just too big and too heavy for my every day needs. If I lived north or west and needed the extra horsepower of the 44, I might look at things differently.

Have to also agree the K22 is way up there on the list, too, as is the Chief's Special. S&W made many great revolvers.

My favorite Smith & Wesson revolver is the Model 49. I like the unique design of the shrouded hammer. It just looks like a classic. Plus i can carry one every where I go unlike the larger classics.

To me it has to be the Model 27 because I think it's well made and is the best looking S&W revolver ever made. My second favorite would be the K22/Model 17 series because they are such a joy to shoot and they provide hours of entertainment for a small price in ammo costs. But if I could keep only one it would be a Model 27-2 in 5 inch barrel.

I agree with you 100%. My favorite is YOUR nickel Model 27-2 with 5 inch barrel.:D

For my purpose the 586/686. I have the 2 1/2" and 4" versions. Well balanced, recoil is managed well.

This would be followed by the 19/66 models.

My purpose was as a uniform duty sidearm.

I have beautiful guns and shootin' guns. Right now my favorite shooter is a Model 627 8-shot lightly customized with a red fiber front sight, a trigger job and cylinder chamfer. I shoot it in combat matches and it helped me finish second revolver for the year. The winner is 20 yrs. younger!

For me, it's the Model 10 - particularly the 3" HB variation. Best looking revolver of all, IMO. My tastes are perhaps a bit more pedestrian than some - I particularly like simple, "workhorse" type guns over guns with more "style" - if that makes any sense. The good old Mod. 10 also has one of the best triggers of any of the Smiths. Finally, I like the fact that the 10 is NOT one of the more rare models favored by collectors, such as the 27 or the 19, etc. I have never cared for rarity and collectibility - as I said, I favor the "workhorse" or "bread and butter" guns (whatever one wishes to call them).
