What's your favorite model and why?

My four inch Model 27. Yeah, it's a humble -9 "Classic" model, but with the magnas and grip adapter, it feels absolutely perfect in my hand. A close second is my four inch Model 19-3, the quintessential duty gun of days gone by.

I agree with the OP. The 3" 686 is my favorite also. I built one based on a 686-4 with a 7 shot cylinder and much DA trigger work and turning a Square into a Round butt.

5" K Frame in 38 Special. From the late 1890's up through the last last Model 10 with a pinned barrel. I assume that would be an early 10-7. The balance, dynamic handling qualities and shootability are simply unmatched.

In my very short experience of actually looking at revolvers, my favorite to look at is the 686 PC 5". I only own the model 460 so that's my favorite that I own, but that 5" 686 PC is just too good looking. Definitely need to get me one some time soon.

I can't decide. Between my 442 or my bobbed 37. I really don't know why. Probably because they fit my pockets and know matter where I am I can have it in my hand in the pocket ready to shoot. I doubt it will ever happen but, I could shoot through a jacket or sweatshirt pocket if needed.

All of them

That said, if I had to choose, which thankfully I don't have too, it would be between my M617, M21, and M627 pro with an additional 9mm cylinder.

The M617 squeaks by for the win. Mine is a 10 shot 4 " gun with a superb trigger, laser like accuracy and for me balances well. This is one gun I'll hand down to my grandsons.

I enjoy all my revolvers, shooting them in ICORE, USPSA, IDPA.

For Post 1980 vintage guns....

J: 60-10 3" with adjustable sights or 649-2 (pictured with the 686)

K: 66-2 3"

L: 686-7 PC .38 Super

N: 657 Mountain Gun

X: 500 4"

As for myself, I am a fan of the snub-nose-revolver. As for my favorite model, it would be the 340PD sans the ILS. It's my dream gun and my dream carry model. I really like the size and configuration of it. I love the modern metallurgy aspect of it as well. Composed of the rarest and most expensive elements found on earth better known as Scandium. Funny, but true this makes its possible that I can shoot a full house .357 magnum and enjoy a glutton's worth of punishment when at the range. My hand might fall off, but at least the gun remains intact! ;P It's a perfect companion as a true pocket revolver. Make no mistake about it, it's a true pocket rocket. Indeed, I am a true beneficiary of Cold War metallurgy and technology. Lastly, it's purely American designed and made.

I waited the longest for a 16-4 and enjoy it to pieces.
I have had a 14 the longest and considered it a favorite for many decades.
I have a 32 long post war hand ejector that I used to consider the most accurate gun I owned until I bought a 24-3.
The 69 4.2" gets shot the most so it's probably the favorite.

Without hesitation it's my 3" 686+. For nearly 4 yrs now I carry this one daily and more often than any other handgun I own (a Milt Sparks Summer Special IWB).

The 686 has been a huge favorite since I carried one as my duty sidearm in the 1980's. An insanely accurate revolver. It's just the right size - not too big, nor too small. It handles full power 158gr loads like a champ and is easily manageable.

I'd have to say the 2.5" 686+

In a pinch it can carry reasonably well and take down medium sized game.

PLUS... it looks sooo darn good :-0

Carrying my -3 in a shoulder rig as I type. I've hoarded 3 or 4 of em, including a -4 plus.

My well worn and well loved Airweight 442 J that was my on duty back up piece for 25 years. That little 5 shot out lived a number of issued duty guns and was a constant companion over the years. I've never claimed to be the worlds finest pistolero but I did enjoy out shooting some of the "kids" during the back up quals. 5 for sure boys! I don't shoot her as much these days as it will someday be handed down to my oldest. Close second is my 629 Mt. Gun.
