What's your most recent firearm purchase, and why did you buy it?

A very pristine late 60's S&W Model 14. A guy at the gun club saw me shooting my Model 66 and asked me if I'd be interested in buying it. Looked like it hadn't been shot hardly at all. One thin scratch at the right side of the muzzle about an inch long. No case-head bluing wear on the recoil shield. Not much wear on the ejector rod. All around very tight. No target trigger or target hammer and a non-matching set of Magna's.

Don't care about the grips, I'm a shooter and I prefer the Goodyears. Cylnder throats were the tightest I've ever seen so I opened them up. That might be why it wasn't shot much.

It was $500. I thought it a fair price for the condition. Why did I buy it? You're kidding, right? Mostly I'm just a sucker for 6" or longer revolvers with adjustable sights I guess.

My first five rounds at 15 yards with Ye Olde Wadcutters. I pulled one, of course, per usual.

Looks like you pulled two!:)

Stopped in a my LGS to but some more Critical Duty .45 for the Black Pearl and saw a new Model 60 LadySmith in .357 at a marked down price and bought it. Got the guy to commit to installing a Big Dot Tritium on the front and threw in a box of Gold Dot so I wouldn't have to have an empty weapon for the ride home.

Any suggestions for some low recoil .38's for it?

Shoot Well My Friends

Federal makes a "Low Recoil" load in the 38 special case. And I think Hornady also makes one marketed in a pink box with a pink expansion tip in the nose. I have some of their 9MMs and the recoil is very mild. Good luck!

Couldn’t help myself. Stopped by a friends barbershop this morning, and a guy was trying to sell a Remington 141 “Gamemaster” rifle in the 35 Remington caliber. I couldn’t resist the allure of finely machined steel, beautifully blued and mated with a nice piece of American Black Walnut. No plastic, MIM, stampings, and everything finely finished. How could I resist?

It has its own thread: Anybody have a Remington 141??

Best Regards, Les

Hi All!
The first gun I ever bought for myself is the 1980 built Model 41 (2 years ago) which I am still shooting almost every time I'm at the range. Was having some trouble recently with the trigger, but that seems to be solved thanks to the help of several very nice experts' advice and a bit of degreaser.

The most recent gun is a 9mm Canik 55 Stingray- for the money, this gun shoots very well! It has a fair bit of weight, which dampens the recoil, and so far, eats every type of ammo I put through it.

I have my eye on a Colt Combat Elite in 9 mm - a limited series of 500 made by Colt for Franconia in 1991. This gun is a joy to shoot, and I'm still trying to negotiate my way to getting this baby in my safe. The owner is a gunsmith/trader who is very interested in my P38 and a Luger P08.... but I am very reluctant to let either one of these go.

Problem is that I am allowed to have max 5 weapons in my possession (Dutch law), unless I have a Collector's license (I'm working on that...)

Anyway... we'll see.... That Colt is very nice!! Should I trade away the Canik?? I don't know.... that Colt is fairly expensive, but these you don't see every day! iI's all fun anyway, and I love to shoot these marvels of engineering....

Picked up a Ruger LCP at Bass Pro last week. 179$. Couldnt resist. Fits in my pocket.
I have yet to shoot it. Maybe tomorrow. 1st pistol sans S&W. Feels like a toy!

I didn't "need" one but a new Remington R51 for $198 I couldn't pass up.

Then Friday (Black) I ran to Dick's for a Ruger 10/22 for $169.99. I'm a sucker for a "deal".

Latest Firearm Purchase & Why Did You Buy It?

My most recent firearm purchase was a used Smith & Wesson Model 317-3 I found at a local gun store on the 16th of November. Why did I buy it? I've been eying this model for a while; this one was in great condition, and it was priced right!
Did I mention this gun hardly weighs anything at all? :)

This gun came to me with a 2 1/2 pound single action, and 11 1/2 pound double action trigger. So far, I've tried it out at home with Colibri's and it's accurate and functions flawlessly! :D

Note: This was posted in an older thread that had become dated due to so many losses in photo integrity from PhotoRansom.

I just picked up a 6904...shot my friends and loved the way it felt in hand so decided I needed my own for CC.

That was my last purchase as well. Saw it listed for sale at $250 and couldn't pass it up. Then found three more mags for it right here on the forum. I found out it fits perfectly in my Glock 19 holster, and seems to carry better to me.

They are great little pistols.

As a side note: I noticed it had the original recalled grips on it (no dimple) so I called S&W. They took my information, said they were not in stock, but they would put me on the list to receive a replacement if they ever got any more in. Yesterday they arrived in my mailbox, less than a week after I called, including the Thanksgiving holiday. I'm very happy with that kind of service.

Yesterday I went to my local gun store to find a base level .380 auto to give a friend for Christmas. I found a new Ruger LCP for $189. I'm a revolver guy from the 70's and I had a 640-3 .357 mag. as my daily carry. While looking around I noticed something I have been wanting to see in the flesh for over a year. A new 640 Pro Series. As soon as I had it in my hand my 640-3 was traded in on the spot. I can't wait to take my new baby to the range this weekend.

My most recent was a Springfield Range Officer 1911, because I haven't had a 1911 for awhile, and missed having one. A week before that was a Taurus TCP .380 ACP mousegun, because I needed/wanted a small pocket carry gun.

I'm glad that some others posted a few revolvers. My last purchase came from G.B. around 10 days ago "Buy It Now" Looked good had to have it. My 1st 44 Magnum. 29-3. Not a scratch or wear mark on it. Loading 44 now. Might go to the range tomorrow for it's maiden trip. Bob
