Mike, when submitting your resume to Lee, play that up as, "highly experienced." ;)

Several years ago, in my younger days, I applied for a promotion to shift commander. That was after my much younger days when I spent too much time writing incident reports. And after my intermediate younger days when I had been a fill in supervisor.

One of the upper level bosses asked me about my qualifications for the job. I replied with the standard "I've held a number of different positions with the department ..." and then paused and added, "As you know, I'm intimately familiar with ALL aspects of the discipline and appeal process."

The interview panel thought that was humorous, but they still didn't offer me the promotion.

I work in Information Technology. My specialization is Unix and Linux systems. The last 13 years I have been working for a County Government in a Civil Service position where I maintain the servers that run the payroll and databases.

Retired at 55 - now I am a professional putterer!

I keep myself busy with Gunsmithing, Shooting, Collecting Lionel Trains, riding my Harley, Cigars and puttering.

They blew it. Your response demonstrated quick wit and the ever famous think outside the box approach. I would have promoted you without any reservations.
