What's YOUR spouses reaction to your new gun?

I missed my chance last week. When I took the dog out for her bedtime stroll my Maglight revealed a pair of eyes way out across a field. Then the eyes rose up a couple of feet and I realized it was a bear, not unusual around here. When the bride saw it, her first words were "I hope you've got a nice big gun handy!" Right then I had a chance to say "No, but I'll get one first thing tomorrow," but I just nodded and been kicking myself ever since.

I've never had to ask permission to buy a gun, and my wife never asks if she can buy the newest gadget or more fabric for her sewing/quilting habit. Years ago at The Varmint Hunters Jamboree in Pierre, SD, I was looking at an H-S Precision take down rifle in 22-250. Had always wanted one, but always out of my price range. I think the price was $1800 or there abouts. My wife told me to buy it and I didn't. Have always kicked myself for not listening to my wife that one time.

I've actually been able to smuggle the last 4 or 5 into the house without her catching on.

Not spending the household money on them, but she does tend to roll her eyes even when it is my allowance that is being spent.

My wife doesn't care what I buy. There is no reaction when I tell her I bought something.

Well, once. When I told what I paid for my Registered Magnum she actually gasped. Then quickly composed herself and asked "I suppose you really wanted it."

I believe I could put a pair of high heels in my gun safe and she wouldn't notice.

I use the high heels trick to divert her attention.:D

Actually, putting high heels in the safe that turned out not to be her size would be a more heinous crime than over-paying for a gun.

Seriously, when it's a milsurp she asks why it's special, if it's a pistol she asks will it be OK for her to shoot it.

As I don't like to keep secrets from my wife. I will show her a picture of a gun I am thinking about buying; she will say nice gun good, luck finding it. I say the gun shop will with order it for me. She normally say ok. I have to save my money until I can afford it so she has not problem when I buy a gun. She has to save her money to buy her sewing equipment. But I also think she is not listening to a word I say.

"Did the other one wear out?"
..... the Mrs is most often always on board and understands.
She just laughed when I handed her the M460 Carry last Summer.
Just painted her old Reynolds tubed bike Navy Blue and will add some pink lacing as she requested.

Most important is that she understands the responsibilities outlined in the 2nd and the value, joy in using and monetary, of high quality firearms and other gear.
Her first confirmed kill, with the new K22MP, was a Bufo Toad when we moved to South Florida decades ago.

Usually when I buy a new gun (haven't done that in a long while) I'll tell her way it is and what it's for. Need a new carry handgun I have a big peanut jar on my chest of drawers that I have been stuffing with nickles, dimes and quarters for the last 5-6 years so that will become my new gun fund money Frank
