When the mind and heart battle.

You often see it referred to as a "sickness", that irresistible urge to buy a particular S&W. It's that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" mindset.

I have a irresistible *need* for a 65 or 66 with a 3" barrel.

I've got a 65-4 4", and a 66-1 2.5" which just makes me *need* a 3" that much more.

Kills me to open threads where people luck into them for under $600.

Mehutch, You have a lot to read and think about. Most of us probably have been there. In situations like yours, I'll remove $50 to $100 from my pocket and justify the purchase or pass accordingly.

I have more regrets over things I should have bought than I do over things I've bought. Like my father in law used to say,"it's not going to be any cheaper next year".

You're asking the people on THIS forum if you want should buy another S&W? You know what the replies will be, right? I'm retired and disabled and my income doesn't allow me to buy more guns. But if I could, I would buy more. I think you know what you will do and just want some validation for buying that revolver.

I wish that my mind could discern the question. The gun is/was there, the funds are there, the hole in your collection/accumulation is there. Sorry, I don't see the dilemma. Post the pics when you get her home! hardcase60

Sounds right to me. Let's be sure we give it to him.

Well I don't want to drag this out, so the cash is in my pocket, car keys in my hand, it has been two full days. I'll see if one of you has done the deed before me.

This is an equal stand-off between my logic and desire. Both make strong points. This will be the third time my pocket was full and my eyes scanned the goods. It ends today.

So many of you have great points: Hardcase60, brjr51, 75Vette, wood714, lowriderfxr, retiredbadge8091, rosefarm, muddocktor, Breakaway500, Ihump1961, H Richard and Vulcan Bob. And I thank you. Others thought I was asking 'what should I do', I never did that.

This is a problem so many of us go through, and this time it is the hardest for me. Sometime you do have enough of something. Sometimes you don't, it's that 'empty spot thing'.

"I have more regrets over things I should have bought than I do over things I've bought." That's it brjr51.

Maybe now I'll get some sleep. Stay tuned.

I seen a 2 inch model 10 few weeks back in my lgs. Didn't even pick it up. Went back two days later to put on layaway. It was gone. Kicked my self over n over. Week or so later I wandered back in There it sat. I now own it. My wife wasn't to upset. Even though I bought a four inch an hour earlier at an auction. I would have regretted not buying it. Don't regret that I did. What can I say. I love old smith n wessons.

Need has nothing to do with it. If you have the money, buy it. If you regret the purchase you can always sell or trade it. They ain't making no more like that. Bad place to ask if you want to keep your money.

I have come to accept I can't buy every Smith I happen upon. I also realize, however, that money, no matter how high you stack it, just isn't as satisfying to possess as a fine revolver.

Couldn't have said it better!

Need is such an unfortunate word when it comes to things we enjoy! Ultimately no one "needs" more than one revolver, maybe not even one. But things we want because they are pleasing often we do need for emotional reasons. Too bad so many women don't understand this!
