I get that there are challenges in a new rollout, but it's the blithe dismissal of (former) customers' concerns that means I'm done with S & W and taking my business to Sig where I almost and should have gone in the first place.

I shot the Sig p365. I wanted to like the p365. I really wanted to like it. First time I tried it at LGS (DS Arms, Lake Barrington, IL), the trigger was an awful pile of mush dragging through a pile of gravel. Then I shot one at the range and my decision was sealed.

Yeah, imagine if S&W replied “due to so many people buying spare Shield Plus mags, we now don’t have enough to go with new guns, so we can’t sell the Shield Plus now”. Like the auto mfr’s not selling vehicles due to the lack of chips. GARY.

At least in the tech world I am in products are sold as soon as someone will buy one, not after "i" has been dotted, every "t" has been crossed and the competition has already sold their similar product to everyone that wants one leaving no customers to buy yours.

At least Smith didn't ship the Plus while it still had issues like Sig did with the P365. Nobody is making you buy products the day they are released. If you want something that has had any preliminary issues fixed and has all the accessories available wait a year, the guns will be still be there.

When S&W doesn't know when Shield plus magazines are going to become available a politely worded email stating that is not insincere, it is the truth.

When will people learn that new models will NOT have spare mags available for 3 to 6 Months AFTER the release. This is Nothing New (been this way for nearly 20yrs or more). This is NOT Pandemic Related. This Not Short-sightedness on the part of the Manufacturer. (and it it not restricted to the Firearms market).
People that just Gotta have the latest anything will inherently need to wait for spare parts, accessories and Bling.

Before buying a new model we need to check accessory availability before buying.
Buyer: 'I want to buy this pistol AND 'X' number of Spare mags.'
Retailer: 'I'm sorry, we don't have any spare mags for that model at this time.'
This is a RED FLAG people.

Just wait a year before buying any new item, be it a firearm, car, or electronic device. You’d figure people would have learned from the Sig365. Oh, & this includes any software upgrade also. NEVER be the first to buy any new product. But so many people have to be the first on the block to own anything new, it’s bragging rights. When you do, you pay good money for something, & you’re a lab rat. GARY.

Kind of presumptuous to think they "served" me, although my memory has grown fuzzy with the passage of time. Actually I am hesitating taking Frank up on his offer because it would be a complete waste of time given that the smoke from that response is still reposing where the sun doesn't shine.

Sorry, not sorry. This is first and foremost a S&W fan site. Those of us that love our firearms (AND understand the issues when a new gun becomes wildly popular nearly overnight) aren't very understanding when folks take an entitlement attitude. There are literally thousands of people waiting for Shield Plus mags. They'd all like a personal invite, too.
Good luck with Sig. You're gonna need it. Sheesh.

Found 4 extra for my S+ so not gonna complain....but just grabbed an LCP Max for fun....every seller has hundreds of the extended 12 round magazines. I will say the LCP Max is the mini-me of the S+. Just my opinion of coarse.

I dont know the issue with extra mags. The gun was announced march 15, the date code on mine is february 8, and im sure mine was not the first one made so s&w had the plus in the works for a while.

If it’s truly an either/or proposition, then someone at S&W should be fired. I get at the initial launch that there are some supply issues. Maybe they sold more pistols than expected. This year has been a weird one.

But I’ve owned the Shield Plus for going on 4 months now. I’m going to sell the pistol. I put an optic on my P365XL, got a new holster for it, and love it.

I probably will not buy another S&W firearm. And I own an M&P 15 rifle and bought my daughter a 9mm M&P EZ.

Well, I doubt Ruger has sold quite as many of their guns as S&W has sold Shield Plus’s, but they were released on the same day, and S&W is out of excuses for the continued lack of mags at this point.

I’m hoping to have some under my tree this Christmas. But I wouldn’t be shocked if that doesn’t happen at this point. I’m surely not spending the stupid gunbroker money for them.

I have started carrying my Hellcat again because ive had no problem getting magazines for it. I dont like it as well as the Shield Plus but i want at least one mag in the gun and two backups. Just my personal preference

There are mags out there, you just need to know where to look (hint, read the rest of this thread). I was able to get two extra 13 rd mags within probably a week of getting the gun by being a little resourceful. Don’t give up quite yet.

Most don’t want to spend time hunting them down and clicking the buy it now button before they sell out. It’s been four months. Other companies have made them available. No excuse.

Honestly, I’m in no rush. I don’t carry a spare mag and if I did I have the other one it came with. I do like to buy mags when I get a new gun, but I can wait. But it is annoying that we should have to.

I agree, we shouldn’t have to wait. And it is indeed annoying. But my comment was more for the people that are excessively whining about it and those that claim they will never buy a other S&W again (which I call BS on).

I am an old time fan of the S&W 9mm from back in the 39-2 days!
I still have and carry 2 3913s that have been excellent!
I have 5 Shields of one sort or the other.
However, if I had known Smith was going to fail us so very badly, I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE PLUS!
Why? There are way too many perfectly good Glocks out there to put up with this mess.

Remember when..........

Quit whining .2 magazines will serve you well until they become available.
Most do not have enough ammo or do not want to shoot it if they do have it to fill both magazines.
You have 2 magazines use them.

not too many years ago , S&W shipped out new M&P pistols with only ONE mag.
be thankful for that, and in my state, I have not even seen a Shield plus for sale yet. All the gun shops are advertising the Hellcat, Sig 365, LCP II,

The gun comes with two mags AFAIK, I'm not seeing the issue.

One is a 10 round mag. One is a 13 round mag.

The whole selling point for this pistol is magazine capacity. So it’s ridiculous not to be able to buy more. I have 6 mags for my Sig P365XL and typically at least 4 or 5 for any pistols I own. What if one breaks or gets lost?

Even if I only want to take them to the range for practice (and that’s not my only requirement), I should be able to purchase mags months after the pistol has been on market.

So if having just 2 mags is good enough for you…that’s wonderful, but it’s absolutely ridiculous to suggest that’s good enough for most serious owners.
