Where do you buy your new smiths?

The last 2 new S&W revolvers I bought were online, a 627 pro and a 69 2.75" barrel. I talked with a couple of LGS's that know me and both said they would have to order and therefor couldn't do much on price. I always try to price with them first. One of those stores sold me 2 shotguns this past year with deals I couldn't say no to.

Got my 686-6 locally... $740 + $74 tax = $814. Maybe I overpaid a little but I'm not losing sleep over it. 2017 has been a great year and I've made nearly as much in OT as I have in straight time pay... hence all the extra cash for things like this.

Ammo has been purchased exclusively online. A better selection at a better price.

How do you like that 3in 686? I'm really wanting one.

The majority of mine were purchased online. Three off this and another forum and one from a local LGS. I don't mind paying more to help out the LGS and for the ability to handle and compare. But, online beats local by $100 + in most instances. I saved almost $250 on a Walther compared to a local LGS/range. I'll eat $50 or so to help a brother out. But ...

I love it.

My first Smith... and it won't be my last. Amazing gun... fun to shoot... accurate... couldn't be happier with the purchase. Beautiful firearm!

Go buy one. :)

I my first choice is my local dealer, I would miss him and the other stuff I need so support them all I can. When it comes to used guns Gun Broker has always treated me right.

Local gun show, is my 1st choice. You can see what you are getting, and the price tends to be negotiable. 2nd, is the internet. The local gun store is decent, but can't compete. I rarely buy NEW! Bob

I try to give the LGS my business. If they can get the pistol and the price is within $50 of the online I buy from them. Often, they can't get what I want, it will take forever, or they just can't touch the online price. Having the option of $0 transfers makes the decision even easier.

I only buy from gun shows. I like to inspect and hold what I'm buying before I actually buy it.

Same thing here.. My LGS can't bring in what I want at the time, but if they have it I'll buy it. I do try to buy all of my new guns thru them though. But like most, the new S&W's aren't what I'm looking for...

I seldom buy new, but I get my guns where ever I find them. Here, Gunbroker, my FFL, pawn shops or gun dealers.

I brought my new 640-1Pro Series at my LGS at the end of November. I traded in my 640-3 for it. I wanted to see and touch one for the last year and a half. A picture online didn't work for me. Also how could I have traded my 640-3 on line? Online buying is great for some things but not guns.

I have never bought a new S&W, a couple of like new with box and docs but never new. The S&W's that I have bought over the last six years since relocating to Texas have all been over the Internet, they have come from a variety of sources, LGS's, pawn shops, individuals, distributors. I never saw one of them in person before buying it. I trust my judgement and years of experience to make the purchase decision. I have not had a bad buy yet made over the Internet.
