Need a screw for J frame, round butt service or Magna grip.

Called SW they do not have them, tried two hardware stores no luck (odd ball screw)

Checked Numrich (Gun parts) Nope
Don't have a E Bay account

Any help appreciated.:confused::eek:
Thanks

I recall reading one of the major hardware store chains (True Value?) started stocking gun related screws. Worth a call if you have one near you.

Might be worth taking the stocks (but not the gun!) to True Value (or Ace) to try whatever screw they think is right so you verify they fit.

Send me a PM and I'll send you a screw. I need the length as I have no J Frames but have various screws OH. & Verify it's a 5-44 as I have those types.

Check out Ace Hardware. Most of them ( at least in rural areas ) have a good selection of gun and scope mount screws. They keep them in assortment boxes separate from the “ regular “ screws.
The Ace about 4 miles from me has them.

The 5-40 screws are standard, not specials. A well supplied bolt vendor should have them. At one time Brownells had generic grip screws that could be cut to whatever length you needed.

When I was in Bellingham WA last Tuesday, my go-to hardware store, Hardware Sales has a few drawers of gun screws, including 5-40... the only one they were out of!

Just thought I’d check

Local Ace has in stock the 1.0” 5/44 thread screw which Fleabus101 indicated was the correct pitch.

It appears 1.0” is the longest they carry.

Did I buy any?

Nope…I don’t believe I have any J guns in the safe but somehow ended up with a few extra screws laying around.
