Where were you when JFK was shot?

I was in the Spanish language classroom .
An after - lunch study hall ( Junior High school)
In the days ...before they called it "Middle School"
Studying the words of the song.... "La Cucaracha"

2nd grade, eastern time zone so early afternoon. They sent us home, but no one said why!? i remember walking home alone and seeing many crying adults..I was scared!

Watching some grad school classmates playing cards. I was twenty-four and married.

I also remember the deep, terrible gloom in my grandparents' house the day FDR died.

Junior in high school. ROTC class, platoon tactics. Master sergeant instructor. Major Torode, PMS, came in and made the announcements. Retired Quartermaster sergeant, who was the military custodian, put black ribbon around CINC's photos when the announcement of his death came over the office radio.

As clear today, as it was fifty years ago.

God rest President Kennedy's soul.

I distinctly remember a few days later watching our black and white Magavox, and seeing them lead Oswald out of the police station when suddenly he was shot by Ruby. For some reason that's an image that's stayed with me over the years.

Sunday morning, IIRC. We were at my grandmothers, but I don't think the TV was on. Of course I've seen the replay so many times that I couldn't honestly say if I saw it when it happened or a million times since then.

As someone else mentioned, nothing on TV but JFK. I think everything was closed on the day of the funeral. I remember my father being home from work and he never closed.

Odd the things you remember, isn't it?

At home with my mother I'm sure. I was barely 4.

I was in the 1st grade, eastern time. The principal told to lay our heads on our desks then told us the news. School was dismissed not long afterwards. I remember watching the coverage a little on tv (Ruby shooting Oswald, funeral caisson, and John Jr. saluting).

Maybe the only event I rermember from 3rd grade

It was mid-morning in Mrs. Lee's 3rd grade class in Seattle. I was sitting toward the back of the class. Mrs. Lee got up to answer a knock at the classroom door. She was outside of the room for only a minute or so -- but when she returned, her face was white like her hair. That's what struck me most. The shock on the face of this sweet white-haired teacher said it all.

As far as the truth goes I seriously doubt we will ever know the entire truth of the situation. By now so much evidence has been lost, stolen and/or destroyed nothing can ever be proven.

A lot of critical forensic evidence was destroyed at the hospital. By now I doubt that any one is still living that could tell it all and get it right. We may just have to rest on the opinions and "guesses" of the "experts".

Designing roads & bridges at the Iowa Highway Department. The place shut down shortly after the news announcement. A very sad day for all Americans.

JFK

In ElCentro Ca at a air base in public works just out of boot camp did a few months there waiting on A school

I was 18 and in my freshman year of college. I was at work at Riverside Supermarket on the East side of town. I heard it from a customer.

Regarding Ruby shooting Oswald, I have seen that tape so many times I can't recall when I first saw it. I recall watching the funeral.

Mrs. Izard's 6th grade class at Irving Robbins Jr. High School, last period class as I remember. Her first comment after it was announced on the PA system was "who could have done this?"

I was only 3 years old at the time. "Pops" was stationed
in Memphis Tennesse,..... Marine Corps.
Funny thing is this was probably my first memory, watching
the funeral procession and his son saluting at the service.
Along with the horse with no rider. Boots facing backwards
if i recall. A sad and somber cast over everything for about a week
as i remember. No laughing/having fun of any kind.
Everyone and everything seemed kind of subdued and blank.
Kinda' like watching an old B&W tear jerker on TV.

My freshman year of high school, I was in Latin Class when the rumors started to fly, then ALL the teachers were called down at once to the principal's office,my Latin teacher had to break us the news. I recall school was not dismissed but we sort of drifted away.

Senior year of HS, in Mrs. Barton's typing class. Study hall was next period so I checked myself out to the band room, turned on the AM radio in the HiFi was had in the room and listened to the continuing news reports.

I was in an Agronomy class in college when someone came in to make the announcement. Walked back to my dorm, everything was quiet with people in small groups, many of them crying.
