which hand gun fits your hand the best?

Colt 1911

John Browning seems to have known a lot about ergonomics before anyone knew ergonomics existed.

There are a lot of revolvers that just don't look right to me and don't fit me well either.

A stock 1911 fits my hand real well, the next is the Luger as being mentioned in a couple other posts.

I read a long time back and think it was said by Jeff Cooper. If I'm wrong please correct me as it was many years ago.

A auto pistol was designed to fit a hand well, a revolver was designed to fit a tentacle well.:D

My hands are on the small side, but my M1911A1s seem to be just the right size for me. I also have a set of N frame Bear Hug stocks I had custom made back in the mid-80's by Deacon Deason. Those are on my pre-24 and fit great.

My Browning HP comes to mind first, then my 1911 .45 with long trigger and flat main spring housing, and a CZ75 is good also. In revolvers a K/L frame with targets is OK but a bit big at the bottom, my Ruger stainless Security Six with Herret Shooting star grips is better, and my 4" Highway Patrolman with Jarwuan P. combat grips is very good.

There is a lot to be said about the grip on the CZ75. And, of course, S&W K and N frame revolvers.

Edit to add: Oooops, I see post #10 was added while I was typing mine. Well, we do agree, anyway!

Is that a Ross holster, from South Africa? How'd you come by that?

I agree that the CZ-75B does have a terrific grip.

I also like the Colt .45 auto, the S&W M-66 with Pachmayr Presentation grips, my GP-100 with Pachmayr Grippers, and the S&W J-frames with Tyler adapter or the Pachmayr Presentation Compac grip, the older, two panel style.

The S&W M-39 feels very good in my hand, but the only one I've shot gave very poor accuracy.

If the Beretta M-9 is too fat for your hand, try their M-92FS. That almost invisible indentation on the backstrap works wonders!

I've read that Wm. Shatner, who played Admiral Kirk in the Star Wars films, held a Colt .45 auto and liked the feel so well that he had the next generation of movie phasers incorporate a very similar grip. I don't think he's a "gun guy" at all, but even he picked up on the feel of the old Colt auto.
