Which vehicle would you choose if you could only have one?

Don't think I would have to "Bug Out" anywhere, but for an all around vehicle, I like my GMC PU, 4wd with the removable camper. Can carry anything I need, and put the camper on, and I can get in some pretty tight places in the woods, and have a place to stay.... If I were to make any changes, it would be to replace it with an extended cab version for the extra storage...

Id get that 1929 Bugatti--last I heard it was worth about $10 MILLION Dollars.

An older Chevy Suburban (late 70's early 80's) that was 4 wheel drive with a mild lift. A rebuilt 350 V8 with headers and dual exhaust bored .030 over and for kicks a supercharger, a Warn winch, heavy duty off road bumpers, off road lights on the front and on the roof, take out the third row seat and make it for storage or even a small mattress. Beefed up axles and brakes that can handle anything I can think of. Maybe a 2-3 inch lift so I can still get in and get out of it. Kind of like Pierce Brosnan's Suburban in Dante's Peak. If the SHTF tomorrow, well then it will be my Jeep Cherokee.

4x4 pickup anyplace where it snows. Dirt bike of some sort if I lived in a warm climate.... the availability of gas and the condition of the roads would make most large vehicles and cars useless.

Getting gasoline or fuel is going to be the problem.

This is a simple FACT. My preference would be a small moped or off road motorcycle with a 4 cycle engine. Perhaps an old Honda 50 with the balloon tires. You gain fuel efficiency approaching 70 mpg with an engine that can be muffled down to near silent with the addition of a second lawn tractor muffler. You also get a very simple engine that will be easy to maintain even if you have to resort to a bailing wire approach.

Got mine. Old Blue. 1999 suburban, 42 gal tank-a bit long in the tooth but she's been a good gal :) Don't really need 4 wheel drive around here-you go too far off tha pavement it ain't gonna help other than get you further in trouble than two wheel drive. She's got a locking differential-a nice ball on the back hitch and best of all, a BRAND NEW TWO YEAR INSPECTION STICKER :D She can pretty much find her way home by herself and as long as I'm not swerving all over the road or have a motorcycle or other car part sticking out of the grill, the local popo will leave me alone so I can get home.

Ford F150 4X4 with plow , and HD in the back. Gotta have something to pushém outta the way like on Zombieland. HD on the back for counter weight.

My 2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty with the 7.3 Diesel. Crew cab and long bed. It's been to the tops of mountains in CO and NM. I've driven around stuck vehicles to pull them out. Bless snow tires and a posi rearend.

Mr. Wbraswel, I've driven a 67 Vette 427 roadster. It had the solid lifters I do believe, Chevy claimed 427 HP, I think the dyno said 475 HP. When one thinks really fast it is one of the contenders.

Arjay, your Mercedes had me going for a couple of seconds. If anyone looked but did not see what the trickster did it might be worth a 2nd look.

But I'll still stick with my Super Duty.

97 or older dodge ram with a Cummins and a 5 speed 4x4 the injection pump is the holley of the diesel world. The engines are almost bullet proof. They will eat just about any oily substance you dump in the fuel tank. They also don't need a computer to run with the 5 speed. When I traded my 96 in it had 330,500 miles and still had more power than my current truck when it was stock.

If one is going to be traversing off-road in the mountains, nimble, mobile and narrow. Full size P/U's are too wide for many trails. Good for the open road, but long wheelbase and wide track are not so good on the mountain trails.

Here's mine.

I would want a 1986 Ford F-150 long bed in baby blue and a white strip down the middle, four on the floor with granny gear. I know that if it could survive me learning how to drive in it, it can survive anything!

If it ever happens, I'm going to the lake in my truck, and "borrowing" a house boat. Zombies can't swim.

Either my F-150 4x4 or my Jeep Wrangler with Dana 44 Currie Enterprises locking diffs.
