Who else has dumped other platforms for the M&P

I got rid of all the Glocks I used to have once the M&Ps came on the scene. I currently have a FS 9 & .40, and will be picking up a Shield 9 on Saturday. I've had the M&P compacts, both 9 and .40, and sold both of them, as I didn't care for the way they fit in my hand, so I stuck with the full size. I do like the way the Shield fits, though, and am looking forward to getting to the range Saturday after I pick it up. I'll probably be selling the M&P .40, though, as my arthritic wrists don't care much for .40 recoil. I also have a Kahr CW45 that will be going up for sale as well, and then, except for my Springfield Armory Loaded Champion and 4586, I'll be content with my M&Ps...

Thank you for this opinion. I held the M&P9c & the Shield. The Shield felt slightly better in my hand.

I think I'll get the M&P 22 first, so I have an inexpensive .22lr analog to the M&P 9 for practice & warm up. Sell the Glocks, then get a Shield & use what's left over for a bulk ammo purchase.

I'll never get rid of my Kahr PM9. Flawless performance and reliable function. I love this pistol. I have however rid myself of four other Kahr models as well as a couple of Glocks after being introduced to the M&P line. I don't miss any of them and haven't looked back.

I started out with a Kahr CM9 and a Bersa 380 Thunder. Went to a gun show back in February and sold my Bersa and bought an M&P 9c and loved it. Last month I sold my CM9 because I hated that looooonng trigger pull and ordered the 45c from Buds and really like it but have to break the trigger in to smooth it out a little more.

Sold my Glocks - bought XD's
Sold XD's - bought M&P's

End of story. and i thought i was the only one.

I only have the M&P22 and granted it is soooo sweet, I don't know if I am ready to give up my Glocks. Changing from one good striker fire syster to another isn't financially sound to me right now. I understand that the M&P 9s, 40s and 45s are all striker fire. My M&P22 is a hammer fire. Granted, I do love the M&P triggers.

Time will tell. I may have to get me an M&P 40 by Christmas 2012. Heck, make that Thanksgiving 2012, since the World is to end before Christmas this year. :>)

Never bought a gun unless I liked it. I still have my old reliable Colt Commander, tack driving High Standard Victor. Never cared for the Glocks,so I never bought one. Shot the M&P's and never looked back. I now have six and going for (at least) two more, 9c & 45 mid. Now those darn 40's started calling my name.

Haven't per se dumped other platforms, but have severely limited or reduced.

Used to have a ton of Glock's, now i'm down to a Glock 17 EXO and Glock 21SF both guns I intend to keep no matter what.

Also have a couple of Caracal's, various pocket guns and a new FN FNP-45USG.

But I have more M&P's now than anything else all having been bought in the last couple of months(FS 9mm, 45 Compact and Shield).

Traded a Ruger LCP for my Shield, so I've got a start, on it.

Just got my FS M&P 357 this week off of the for sale forum. Also bought a .40 barrel since I have 2000+ rounds of 40 S&W and no 357 sig.
Now if S&W would bring out a 10mm M&P, my Glock 20 will be history.

I still have my beloved Glock 19 and will probably never get rid of it. However the M&P9 I bought a couple months ago quickly became my new carry gun after a single range trip with 500 rounds of flawless ammo. I have a Crossbreed Supertuck on the way for it too!

I didn't dump any platform for the Shield, but I've owned and shot many of the slim 9mm offerings out there and never warmed up to their ergos or triggers. I then rented a Shield at my LGS, went back up to the sales floor and immediately put my name on the waiting list. :D

A few days later my LGS was having a sale on the FS M&P 9mm so I promtly called them to see if they had any left. They told me "only one more" which had me almost yelling on the phone for them to hold it for me until I got there. I'll be picking it up tomorrow and already have several mags for it on the way. I was thinking of getting another G19 down the line just to have at least one Glock, but the M&P changed my mind. All in all, the FS M&P didn't make me dump a platform, but it kept me from going back to one. ;)

I have dumped everything for the M&P except for my Beretta M9. That is still my favorite pistol ever, just not the one most used anymore. :D

I sold my G 26, and bought a M&P 9c.
The Glock was a good gun, but just didn't fit my hand.
The M&P is just as good and fits just right.

Did the same here also for the same reason. After that I bought a S&W BG.380, and just lately the M&P Shield.

Can you elaborate as to why?

I'm in the market for one of these but I'm having trouble deciding.

I've shot the M&P in 3 calibers and was overall satisfied (not exactly excited about the trigger though), but only dry fired the PPQ.

Well, I did end up getting rid of the PPQ. The trigger on the PPQ is pretty sweet. And the fit and finish is pristine. The M&P is all business though and it just "fits" me better. The grip and muzzle flip of the PPQ caused my accuracy to suffer a bit. I am a fairly new pistol owner and I wanted something I could control better and I found that in the M&P. I actually find the stock trigger of the M&P just fine for range duty. Maybe I will do some work on it, but right now I need to work on my technique. The only thing I don't like about the M&P is the beavertail plastic hunk. I have no idea why it is there, but I don't notice it at all when I shoot.

I do not get rid of any. My collection just keeps growing. I just got a Shield but like all of my firearms, none will replace my favorite EDC for over 20 years. Ruger SP101 3" .357
