Who Likes Iced Tea?

I like sun tea. Have to get the jar out and put some lipton bags in and set in the sun now that it is up more than not.

No sugar. Just tea.

Make my own at home half & half mixture of Lipton Black tea and green tea. I drink at least half a gallon a day never had a gall or kidney stone or any issues due to tea. Drink it straight, no sugar or sweeteners.

OK, I'll be the outlier here. I HATE tea. (Am I the only one on the Forum?) When I was growing up, my parents were always drinking tea, hot or iced, year 'round, consuming gallons of the stuff every month. Even my seven years younger little sister became a tea addict at an early age. I couldn't stand the stuff then, and can't stand it now. Sweetened, unsweetened, lemon or not, luxury exotic brand or common brand, I don't like any of it. The only time I will drink it is if it's the only thing available, and I'm thirsty. Even then, all I can do is choke down a few gulps of the stuff. But I'm happy for the rest of you who consider it to be the ambrosia of the gods.
Sincerely,
swsig

Another Texan here who is an oddball for drinking unsweetened iced tea.

My preference has become a de-caf tea brewed with a couple bags of peppermint tea. This mint tea, unsweetened, is my favorite beverage and consumed daily, rain or shine, all year long.

I am an Unreconstructed Southern, but I can't take Sweet Tea.

My mother and grandmothers made it so sweet it was like syrup.

They added the sugar to the hot boiling tea because it would hold more sugar in suspension, or so they thought.

My Tenneese kin made cornbread with so much sugar and flour that it was like cake !
My Texas family used no or very little sugar in cornbread, and certainly no flour.

It made for interesting discussions when both families ate together.

Give me unsweet ice cold Lipon Tea, and hot unsweeted and un-floured cornbread please !

Drink it everyday and double on Sundays. For me it is water, sweet ice tea and coffee. Every now and then a drink of apple pie moonshine.
If I could only have water plus one, its Sweet Ice Tea with fresh cut lemon.

My choice is Luzzianne sun tea. Always brew it dark and strong. Mmmm, think I am going to pour a glass now...

Make my own, Luzianne 4 family size bags per gallon made with coffee maker. One and a quarter cups sugar to a gallon and a little lemon juice. Most if not all restaurant is way to sweet to suit me.

Funny. I'm sipping some right now. No sugar, no lemon.

That Southern Sweet Tea is far too sweet for me, and I have a typically English sweet tooth. In a restaurant I'll have the slightly brown water with some Stevia and maybe lemon. Put mint in my tea and you'll find yourself wearing it.

Unsweetened Oddball, checking-in here. If I go to swallow tea with sugar, it nearly initiates a gag reflex, LOL. I simmer it in a pressure cooker for a few hours. Usually, about 8 bags of whatever black tea I found, and 4 bags of chai to a gallon of water. Although, I've added other blends for a little added zest, also.

I drink about a 1/2 gallon of iced tea a day. While I grew up on sweet tea, I prefer mine unsweetened, for both health and taste reasons. If I have a craving for sweet tea, I can just use a sugar cube , Sweet'n Low, or rum.

Being from Louisiana, I mostly use Community Coffee tea, but Luzianne or Lipton taste good too. But for hot tea, I use Twinings.

I havent had ice tea in a long time, we used to have a neighbor from Ga, she used to make me a big pot every week, she called it sun tea, around here most people drink ice coffee.

We had it about every day during the growing season on the farm when I was at home. Often my Dad, brother and I would take an iced tea break on a particularly hot day, or when we were between major jobs. Dad liked a good bit of sugar in his, my brother NEVER used/uses sugar, and I can take it either way.

Now I'm the only one in the house here who drinks it, and the stuff won't keep longer than around 20 hours or so, so I'm learning to make it in smaller amounts.

I lived in SC three years or so, but never had sweet tea while I was there. Maybe you southern folks can tell me how it's made(I wouldn't think it would be complicated, but you tell me.).

Regards,
Andy

Iced tea with some sugar needs refridgeration. If you let it set out all day and it turns cloudy. Guess it starts to ferment?

I like sweet tea but its amazing how many calories are in sugar and it has a lot of other negative effects on the body and teeth so I use Stevia which is natural also. I spend most days in my truck visiting my construction sites and and have 32oz tumbler which I'll fill 5 or 6 times a day with water when its hot out and when I'm tired of drinking water I add some Mio. Mio is alittle bottle of water flavoring product one flavor is Southern Sweet Tea and I put 4-or 5 squirts in my tumbler and it tastes like tea with about 6 teaspoons of sugar in it. It's good stuff and pretty handy.
