Well, as I surmised, the issue of insurance was discussed. Fire extinguishers fit into that context, too.
To put some of y'all's thoughts together, because I love this line:
Having a gun is like a parachute. You might only need it once but if you don't have one you won't need it again.
A friend of mine at his parents' 50th anniversary party in a high rise, high dollar condominium, asked me if I was carrying a gun. I looked at him like he was crazy and retorted, "When did you ever see me when I wasn't carrying a gun?!" He replied, "Why do you need it here?"
I laughed and said, "I don't need it here; I need it out there, to get here, and to ensure I can get home safely", and I pointed to the city outside the window in a general way.
I don't think he quite understood............
