Will Smith smacks Chris Rock

The "Oscars" have been a joke in and of themselves for years.

This was no exception.

Was it staged? Was it real? Doesn't matter. The fact is it got a show that has been dying a long and hedious death for decades and is more about political commentary and a haven for SJW's (if you can call them that) than anything to do with talent or motion pictures.

So I go back to my comment about was it staged or real. Fact is the "incident" brought attention to this fiasco of a show...attention it really sorely needed.

If it were real, I would wonder would it have been a slap or a right hook. Note the grin on Smith's face as he walked back to his seat. He wasn't ejected nor was he charged.

Like the show itself, "nothing to see here folks; move along.....move along"

It's kind of funny that 2 pages of discussion have peen posted over a thing done by one celebrity to another (and with the possibility it was all staged to get a ratings boost/attention to the Oscars), on a gun forum, considering that Hollywood types don't think too much of us gun owners.

The Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawler thing was definitely staged as a comedy skit. The real discussion it about the rumor that Kaufman said or did something to insult Lawler, who chose his get payback during the skit. I remember watching these and thinking Lawler has changed and now has an anger vibe, and he wasn’t that good of actor.

Jerry Lawler.

People always used to ask me if I was related to Jerry “The King”
Lawler (I don’t think I am, maybe a way distant cousin).

Years ago, when I’d have to spell my last name for someone, I’d say “just like Jerry “The King” Lawler” and they’d usually go “oh yeah”.

I had to stop doing that when I’d get asked who that was.
Most of us still remember him, though:)

Oh, and I didn’t even realize the oscars were last night until I saw this thread. Although I think Smith went too far, jokes about a spouses medical condition should be off the table. I did enjoy seeing Rock get smacked, not a fan of his.

I dunno. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the whole thing was staged. Some of these so-called Hollywood elites will go to extreme measures to get their name in the press. Janet Jackson, Justin Bieber, and Jussie Smollett come to mind, just to name a few. I'm sure there are others.

Personally, I couldn't care less.

Can't believe anybody bought into this. The Oscars ratings needed a ratings jump start and this got everybody talking. News flash. They're actors, they were doing what they do.

The grossest thing I’ve seen yet is the idea that responding to words [other than a direct threat] with violence is acceptable.

Not in this country.

Nah. A direct insult to my wife will result in a physical response. I may take a whoopin’, but probably not.

As a well known curmudgeon would say, "C'Mon Man!"

People in general are more and more classless and more and more "offended"

Does anybody remember Don Rickles?

This could have been handled off stage with a "You crossed the line" and a "Oh man, I'm sorry, My bad"

$0.02

C'mon, man. Staged or not, most Hollyweirdoes need a good slap.

Don't think it was staged.
When Smith sat back down and yelled
at Rock......that voice was uncontrolled rage.

If that dude does not get it under control, he
will not die a natural death.

Chris Rock is worth $60M
Will Smith is worth $350M
Jada Pinkett Smith is worth between $50M to $100M depending on how her Real Estate Portfolio is valued.

That’s 510,000,000 reasons why I don’t care if they act like morons in front of an audience of elitist snobs.

Huh.....(yawn).... what, what did Kid Rock do now??

Just saw him on Tucker this past week, guy must get around....

I just ten mins ago saw the thing. I saw the horror of insult on the bald wife's face. The retaliation was appropriate. If they keep that up, I will watch more. If not I will keep to my statement: "NO HOLLYWOOD; NO SPORTS".

Nah. A direct insult to my wife will result in a physical response. I may take a whoopin’, but probably not.

My wife is smarter than I am. She could respond to any insult far more devastatingly than I.

I respond to threats. Allowing someone’s words to make me lose composure would feel childish, at best.
