winter EDC

The problem with pocket carry is security.

For example I can’t count the number of times my cell phone has fallen out of a pocket.

I have conceal carried for 38 years and have never had a handgun fall out of a holster.

Now if you are not very active, don’t run, jump, roll around on the ground, etc, pocket carry might work fine.

For me, not so much.

In the winter I will move the gun outward so to speak so I am only living on garment to draw. Again, it’s NC, with mild winters so that usually means a vest or a short coat or jacket. IWB or OWB under the vest, jacket or coat, works fine.

Back home in SD with a long parka, a different approach was required.

Pocket carry doesn't necessary imply no holster. In winter am pocket carrying G23 in a pocket holster. Granted it is a heavily modified pocket.

A 4 in 29 will ride comfortably behind the bib of a semi tight pair of overalls....Been there.......Done that.

In winter am wearing heavy double front carhart bibs everyday. Have been considering a lower appendix carry alternative under the bib with reverse FBI slant. But the belly bands have checked are too high, and the belt holsters that can have their slant reversed too bulky.

Once cold weather sets in, I swap out my single stack M&P40 Shield for my double stack M&P40c.

As you can see, they're roughly the same size, the M&P40c is simply thicker and holds a few more rounds.

Glock 19 with Remington Golden Sabers all year long. No need to change guns or ammo, but I do change holsters and carry style sometimes based on temperatures and clothing changes.
