Some people destroy their carry guns. Some people don't. My carry guns get destroyed. I wouldn't carry that beauty. Get an EAA Windicator.
Tht is not a very compelling arguement....

I might carry that one during the cooler months, when it's not as likely to get a sweat bath day after day. A sweaty gun, especially a blued one, needs to be cleaned and oiled daily. Even a stainless or poly gun needs to be wiped down daily in those conditions, but a blued gun would get ugly quickly without daily attention.
I don't mind honest wear on a gun, but pitted metal is a result of neglect or lazyness. That one is awfully nice to take many chances with. I tend to carry my Shield 45 more often in the Summer months.

Don't listen to him, I frequently carry a 2 1/2" 686. It's all about the holster. As for the 19-5, definitely carry it. I would prefer the stainless model 66, but nothing wrong with a blued gun. Just needs a little extra care in maintenance. JMHO

IMO you should carry whatever allows you to make the most accurate hits, but still be in a concealable package ( or you'll leave it home). Does this fit that bill for you?
As an aside, I shoot revolvers slightly better than my semi's. So I carry both 2.5" and 4" 66s when the mood strikes.

gfors, Nice looking Model 19 you have. Now for my two cents worth. I would carry and take care of it or get rid of it in a heart beat, and buy something I was willing to use as it was meant to be used.

This is why it wouldn't be my EDC, but I would carry it on occasion. I have a 4" in like condition that I take deer hunting. I'll also use it as my carry gun during the trip. That way I only have to take one gun.

Somewhere down the line if you have to use it you will probably lose it.Not always but a strong possibility, and depending on the outcome of the event you may not want it back.

Here is my EDC for the last six years and the 1917 it replaced. The barrel on the 1917 is a replacement and has never been reblued.

The guys that won't carry a nice gun because it might end up held in evidence crack me up. First of all if I need a gun to protect my life or those I love, the value of the gun isn't the issue. Might not carry a triple lock target or a registered magnum, but a 19-5 snub isn't in that class and never will be. You want a good solid dependable QUALITY gun that your familiar with and shoot well. If I need surgery I hope the surgeon uses his best scalpel. A gun fight to save my life is every bit as important as said surgery.
I usually, cary a 325 snub, Not cheap or common, neither is my 396 or 296 back ups. If the odds go way way against me and I end up actually using on of them and loose it to the judicial system so be it. But, for that to happen things are going to have to get way way fubarred. I could carry a Charter Arms Bulldog 44 as I have 2. I will go with top shelf for my life line, Thank you very much.

My prediction is that during your first two years of CCW....if you are still CCW'ing then, you will have gone through at least a couple of different pistols deciding on what is right for you.
If you remain CCW'ing after a couple more years, what you began with may begin to look good again.
All the while you are changing pistols like I change my sox don't forget about the #2 washtub of "perfect" holsters you will have acquired along your journey.
If I knew then what I know now, I would have known to stop worrying about the destination and enjoyed the trip more.
You learn as you go so your wants and needs become a confusing tangle that can only be described as "Pistols That I would Like To Own and Carry"

Possible. I suppose. Millions and millions of people carry concealed. A handful of guns are actually fired at assailants. Poster gives his location as Colorado, which has castle doctrine. The chances of his ever having to shoot someone, and then having his gun confiscated, are too ridiculous to consider.
Carry what you like. Especially carrying every day.
Still waiting for a good reason to own a safe queen... even all the RM’s the guys have here have been fired. If you don't enjoy using the gun and think it will be worth a life saving amount of money down the road, then you haven’t thought out your investment strategy very well.

I carried a Model 19 or Model 66 2-1/2incher off duty and in plain clothes in my early years as a sworn law enforcement officer in California, before the high-cap semi-autos took over in the mid Eighties I would not hesitate to carry these models again as a CCW if circumstances warranted. These days I carry a much lighter and smaller handgun.
However, if you are asking about whether you should set this one aside and possess it as a safe queen, only you can decide.

You should absolutely carry that 19-5. I have rotated one through my daily concealed carry for most of my adult life. It wears fairly expensive custom BluMagnum stocks and rides in a nice El Paso Saddlery holster. The entire rig has held up great and shows little wear other than a couple seatbelt dings on the wood. I don't worry about losing it to the police because I am not a bad guy and not going to do any "bad" shooting.
