Wow Chick-fil-A must be doing something right!

I seldom eat fast food; maybe three or four times a year and most of that is when traveling. For you who eat such fare frequently, you can better compare Chick Filet with all the rest than I can.

Moral standards, professionalism and ethical concerns of managers and employees are certainly commendable, but much of their food has very high salt content and "spicy" to Chick Filet is a long way from "spicy", but fast food folks are probably not real choosy.

I must admit it makes me a little hungry talking about this, but I always carry an emergency bottle of regular Tabasco in my car.

There is a Chick-fil-A 10 minutes from us. Ruthie, the boys and I enjoy it. We try to hit it at least once a month. Tasty food, clean environment and cheerful, courteous staff.

It is a well oiled machine that handles the heavy traffic well. We rarely have to wait more that 15 minutes.

JR could live on the waffle fries and Polynesian sauce.

I haven't eaten any fast food in probably two years? I did eat at Chik Fil A one time in my life, I think?.

I did get my wife carry out Chinese two nights ago, but that's her kryptonite, not mine....I ate Chili beans on nachos with toppings.

Don't know who was there first but there's an In-An-Out and Chick-Fil-A within spitting distance of each other and on the same side of the road. Their lots resemble the Mall the day before Xmas. Unbelievable traffic.

Wonder if either will ever go the way that White Castle did and offer their product in stores.

They’re packed, one reason they have the highest AUV, average unit volume in the industry.

In 2023, Chick-fil-A generated the most revenue per location on average compared to any other fast food restaurant in the United States. In fact, they beat competitors by more than 2x, and they did so with one less day in the week (Chick-fil-A is not open on Sunday):

Chick-fil-A: $8.7MM in revenue per location
Shake Shack: $4.0MM in revenue per location
McDonald’s: $3.0MM in revenue per location

Search youtube for The Fat Files. Nic, The Fat Electrician, has a good video on CFA vs. anybody else in the fast food world. I can't link to it because of profanity, be warned.

By the way, Nic's other channel, The Fat Electrician, is military based history and is extremely well done. He is a great storyteller and very funny. Again, the language is not safe fer young'uns.

It appears I am not the only fast foodie.

If it wasn't for Wendy's, Arby's, Checkers, and KFC, I'd probably starve during the summer.

I went to Chick-fil-A one time, because everyone was telling me I had to check it out. There were 2 lanes going around the building. They had people outside walking around taking orders, before I got close to a window someone brought my order to me. I was most impressed. It was good food, but I like KFC best.

I like the closed on Sunday thing. Can you imagine the millions of dollars they loose due to that? Shows character.

About 10 years ago I was on an interstate and got off at an exit for lunch. CF was there. I tried it and liked it.

No stores in my area at the time. Fast forward and a store opened. The lines were too long and I never went there.

Until yesterday....

I had to take my wife to the doctor and we passed a CF on the way home. 11:00 am. No line. We stopped.

Best chicken sandwich I ever had. Respectful servers. Nice clientele.

We WILL go back again, and maybe fairly frequently, but our plan is to stop in before the noon rush.

Don't try that in Vegas. The noon rush starts about 1030. I think this city is a hotspot for those damned early people.

We have one right up the road from us. Because it is located on a major highway intersection they made a two lane drive through with two sets of windows. A trolley style system delivers food to the outer line. There is almost always a employee standing out side in each lane with a handheld order and payment device. I can be the last in line and it still only takes 10 to 15 minutes to get through. I like the regular sandwiches(minus pickles) and Mom likes the nuggets. I mostly order it delivered these days so I do not have to leave Mom alone at the house.

The lines are long, but they move. They did some serious IE work on their drive through processes. I’m pretty sure there is a news story still posted about how during COVID vaccine mandates, one town had the local CFA manager come down and orchestrate their vaccine drive through operation…

Have yet to try them. Looking forward to it.

I'll stay with Whataburger. Their chicken sandwich is as good as anyone's, even though I usually do not order one unless they give out coupons for free chicken sandwiches. Which they happen to have right now. I have two of them. One nice thing about Whataburger is that they often give out coupons for free stuff.

I remember in the '80s, when malls were the future of the world, they had a corner location at the entrance to the food court. Prime location. It was good food, a step above the other fare being offered. But they soon pulled out and didn't come back for 30 years. Put one in about 7ish? years ago. Stand alone location with a drive-thru. Still haven't been. If I'm in the area, I'm after something other than food, and it ain't good enough to make me drive 10 miles one way for a chicken sandwich.

I like Chik Fil A more than most of the other "fast food" places. As others have noted they are always crowded. The one in our city has a microscopic parking lot, but other than that it's okay.

I like their salads, which again are better than average.

I hate drive through restaurants so I'll brave the parking lot so I can go in and eat.

I think there are about 40 ChickFilAs here, and they are all busy all the time. Okay, I'm exaggerating. There are only 6 or 8. I do like their spicy deluxe sandwich, and those waffle fries . . . yum. The only other chicken place I'll go to is Cane's which is also pretty busy. Not quite as busy as CFA, though. Popeyes here has very inconsistent quality, so I quit going there.

Of course, like most Texans, my all time favorite fast food place is Whataburger. Their jalapeno cheeseburger hits the spot. That drive through is SLOW, though. They could take some lessons from the chicken people.

Go during the 'off' times...

I have tried to go to Chick-Fil-A approximately 6 times, only being able to get in within a reasonable amount of time 3 times. I am NOT waiting an hour for fast food!

I thought the food was descent (an upgrade from McDonalds, BK, Wendy's, etc.) but nothing so special that it is worth a long wait. I do value their policy's, ethic's and personnel and might stop in again in the future, but if there is a substantial line - I am outta there.

I too shake my head in disbelief when passing a Chick-Fil-A and seeing a super long line of cars wrapping around the parking lot. I think that it is partially the food quality and partially the fact that Chick-Fil-A is more aligned with good old fashion morals. Either way..... good for them!

It will still be busy but they seem to be able to run people through the lines very quickly.
