I must assume that the IRS have decided after over six years that they don't like that my savings accounts bear the name of my trust rather than mine. Anybody else been subject to such nonsense? Going to call my tax guy today, but I cannot see anything in the way he did my taxes that would trigger a W-9.
Of course, it may all be down to the bank and the way they describe my accounts. Since putting my accounts in my trust they address correspondence with the name of the trust first, with my name as trustee underneath. Could be that practice has got the IRS excited. The trust name does not include my name, so that may be creating a disconnect.
