You Carry A Second? Where?

There was a time I had a back-up with State LE.

Out of enforcement in 2017 I now do some generally low-key collection. Really dicey once. Been threatened a few times. My EDC is a Korth .357 Mag Mongoose 4" barrel. Now with a second Korth in a 3" barrel, while infrequent, when necessary where would you carry both? Certainly overkill especially with the dog but who knows, and with a loose shirt, they don't print.

I generally go with a single holster right behind my right hip point as pictured, but have tried the second at the small of my back w/a 3/4" Galco belt. Behind my spine is out though as I've heard can send you to the quack-a-practor as also mentioned in this thread.

When I go to a door, I also always leave my driver door open for my pointy eared partner which is probably enough by itself, but I have dealt at times with some real interesting folks.

.

I will be vociferous here....:o

NEVER, EVER, carry at the small of your back. The risk of spinal injury, and the multitude of things that can happen, is just TOO GREAT. In my 20's, I stupidly put some extra cuffs in an *** pouch for a couple of weeks. This resulted in establishing a great business relationship with a chiropractor for about 6mos. :(

Rant OFF. :D

I wear shorts and it's BUG in left front pocket, and main on the right hip.
Sometimes, it's one in each pocket for convenience, with nothing on the hip/waist.

I started out carrying my (unauthorized at the time) M36 backup in an ankle holster until I bought a vest holster at a Street Survival Seminar. Now that I'm retired it's my M442-2 in a pancake holster and I sometimes carry my M340PD in my left-front pocket.

This might sound a bit unusual to you. Generally the only time I carry two guns is when I am traveling. I have my primary in a belt holster so it is always with me when I stop for gas or go into a convenience store. My second is usually a 1911 or CZ75 or a clone. The second gun is under my seat cushion sitting on it. All I need to do to get to the larger gun is lean up on my left hip and reach under the edge of the cushion to have it in my hand. In reality the larger gun is the primary and would be chosen first in the event it was needed while in the car. When I am out of the car the gun under the cushion cannot be seen from outside, and I am literally never more than a few feet away from the car.

Number 3 in marked patrol car around 2010.

Don't know why the pic posted sideways.

On duty I carried a 4" Python (before autos). Experimented with a DS on my left ankle, but it would always come loose. A Safariland 'sock' putting the gun mid calf worked but irritated my skin. Work pants were not sufficiently loose to carry the DS in my pocket. Now its a Shield + at 4:00 is my only carry.

I carry a Ruger LCP in a Desantis Nemesis Pocket Holster as a BUG, typically inside of a thigh cargo pocket where it can easily be drawn from a seated position.

I take a variety when camping or traveling but usually don't have a second gun on me around home or my little town.

I imagine your not wearing body armor but you might be able to adapt the idea somehow. When I was working, I carried a Keltec P-32, extra mag and my folding knife in my hard plate pocket on my concealable armor. My goal was to be able to carry a second without noticing it. Accomplished.

I sewed the pocket so I had a makeshift form fitted holster for the P-32 and the extra mag, and clipped the knife. The velcro tab still closed the top of the pocket.

The other option I had with the Keltec was a lanyard so I could carry the P-32 around my neck, but I didn't like it.

I carry my KelTec P32 or S&W 340 M&P in my left front trouser pocket as a back up gun. I tried various ways of carrying my back up early in my career, that method works best for me.

Just wanna comment that surely anyone who carries two Korths is very well heeled indeed!

And well paid! I'd never carry such a pricey gun, let alone two. Every man spends his money in his own way but while I'd love to have such a fine weapon as a Korth, I wouldn't t spend the money on one unless I had literally nothing else better to do with my money. And I surely wouldn't carry it.

While I don't have an answer for your second option of the 3" Korth I might suggest it never hurts to have a backup to your backup…. A scandium j frame on the ankle would take the same ammo and you would barely know it was there once you got used to it.

649 , Galco pocket holster.

Unless I unavoidably have to enter an urban area like Little Rock or Memphis then a BHP is added in a summer special.

From an even-older ex-copper: Used to carry a 38 snub in the pocket of our uniform peacoat. Old timers were known to have hands in pocket on cold days and on at least one occasion fired the snub through the pocket for the fastest response. Same applies to civilian coats today, if you happen to live where it's cold enough for coats!!

This is so true, and I am living proof. My right leg is about 35% numb and the right foot is about 70% numb from falling flat on my back from slipping on ice and landing on my Beretta 92 that I always carried in the small of back.

I preach this all the time, just don't carry in the small of back...can be bad news.

Abbreviated small of back on here results in ***..
