There are plenty of success stories if you care to read them. And even if you have a warranty issue (mostly tied to older 15/22's) its not like you're dealing with Taurus or something, S&W actually takes care of its customers.

Bought one about a month ago, not single issue after 2k rounds and has fired everything I've put through it. With the proper care and cleaning it should function flawlessly and I highly recommend you get one if you're dead set on getting a 22.

Just make sure to load the magazines properly (staggered), and to clean and lube it when you buy it.

+1 on the success stories and S&W customer service. I've talked to them on the phone but haven't had to send mine in. It seems to run better the less I clean and fuss with it. I did make a minor alteration to the mag followers to make sure the bolt holds open after the last shot.

I've never been under the impression that most everyone has to send them back. When they just came out, there were some issues with feeding I believe but everything was sorted out and corrections made. I don't think there have been any issues for a couple of years now. Almost everything I've read recently (last 12 months) have been positive. I've got to have around 3,000 flawless rounds or so through mine with both 10 and 25 round mags. Great rifle.

I've never had to send mine back. I did have to run about 200 CCI Minimags through it at first. After that, it will eat any kind of ammo I throw at it. About 6 months and over 6,000 rounds and mine shoots just as good or better than new.

Another positive review here. Few thousand rounds, runs like a champ. Fun for everyone!

I'm joining the majority. I had one that shot great and low and behold another came by that was hardly used and low priced so I bought it. The 1st one is now my Grandson's and he loves it. No problems with either one. Very reliable, fun shooting and accurate too.

Funnest gun I have. I would say it is one of the best gun purchases that i have made and wish I had done it sooner.

No issues with mine in several thousand rounds.

Plenty of positive posts out there about them, I wouldn't let a few bad ones sway me if that is what you really want. That said, I couldn't be happier with my Sig 522, and will always recommend one over the all plastic Smith.

750 rounds and no trouble. No regrets here!

As far as S&W customer service, my wife's Walther P22 had a bad spring and we called for a replacement (S&W handles warranty claims for Walther in the U.S.). We were very impressed and happy with how quickly things were handled. S&W Customer Service gets an A+ from me!

No issues bought mine two weeks ago took it to the range straight out of the box shot 500 rounds of American eagle and 500 of blazers. No issues at all. Cleaned her today she was a dirty girl :) pull the trigger and just buy one. I'm looking at a m&p22 now I just love the feeling of only spending .04 cents a round.

Most everyone sends it back? That's news to me.

Remember, the people who have a problem will be vocal about it. The owners that don't have any issues have nothing to say.

Mine's been perfect through several bricks of bulk .22lr.

got mine in Feb. 5000+ rounds and only 2 rounds that did not fire (the first time), using only Fed. 550 bulk from WalMart. Color me lucky I guess ... :D

I bought mine early last year. I'd say at least a few thousand rounds of Golden Bullet bulk from Wal-mart. Never a problem. I bought mine I think before they came out with the Mag-Pul edition because that was not an option. I have the original 3 stock magazines that I bought at the time. No failures of any kind that I remember.

I've been doing a LOT of reading about all the various 22lr rifles out there for my next purchase. Ruger, Marlin, Winchester, Kel Tec, all of them pretty much.

Even though the 15-22 is more expensive than a lot of them, you are getting a fully functional AR platform. FULLY functional. I have zero interest in shooting 223 caliber again as I did more than enough back in the day and $.40 per trigger pull is out of my league. I do have interest in already knowing characteristics/take-down/cleaning of the firearm I'm buying. These suckers are SO easy to take down and clean it's crazy good.

My pennies are being saved for a 15-22. It is in my opinion hands down the best bargain out there to have tons of fun shooting.

The 15-22 is very reliable so you can cross that item off the list of considerations/concerns.

Should YOU buy one or not... depends on what you want to use it for. I use mine for bouncing around soda cans and shotgun shells offhand at the Plinking range. I could not think of a better rifle suited for me for that purpose. On the other hand, if I was looking for a rifle to precision shoot at paper from a rest, the 15-22 would not be my choice. For those looking for an AR trainer, I think the 15-22 is great. So.... it just depends on what you're looking for.

ps. Go ahead and buy one. ;)
