Just remember...double tap.

Zombieland has got to be one of my favorite movies ever, but it gives me a horrible case of jonesing for Twinkies when I watch it.

My hunnie and I are watching Night of the Living Dead.......not one of the zombies in the movie has demanded Bank of America be shut down or the execution of stock brokers. I'm confused....

Most excellent question. :D
I had always thought that zombies were the ones that absolutely refuse to take responsibility for their own life and prefer to do nothing while the tax payers support them in their chosen life of poverty.
(not to be confused with the ones that are there through no fault of their own)

That's pretty much it. In certain circles it can also have a context not approved of here, but yeah. Generally when people I associate with refer to zombies, it's your meaning. Also having to do with when the checks start bouncing & they start looking around for stuff they need, or like post Katrina... really any number of things.

Kind of amusing to me that "zombies" has been applied to both the Occupy (wherever) people AND the Wall St. moneymongers as well.

Also kind of a flip answer to the question "Why do you need so many guns/so much ammo/an AR15/an AK47/etc...."

"Why, zombies, of course!"

Hey. If you're prepared for zombies, you're prepared for anything! :D

Howdy,
I never understood zombies either. It was Halloween yesterday and I was curious so I peeked through the vast list of zombie movies on Netflix.
I settled on what seemed the most appropriate for my geographical location and watched "REDNECK ZOMBIES".
Now after seeing one, I am an authority on them.
I doubt that I ever watch another zombie movie.
I do have to say there were things in the movie that made me smile and others that were just out right disgusting. Might be the common link of all zombie movies?
Here is a question for you. What do you call the corn squeezin's for the still once the radioactive waste has been spilled in it?
Why, monster mash. What else?
Thanks
Mike

Fiction is a way adults can consider irrational problems in a rational way.

When under heavy stress, large groups of people have the capacity to commit horrible acts on others.

Think rowanda, Serbia, pre ww2 Germany, our own civil war, etc.

Zombies are based i think on our real fear of large scale aggressive groups of people.

Post ww2 our fiction featured radiated monsters and mad sciencetists as folks thought about the ramifications of the new nucluar world.

As the world economy weakens and the population explodes, mobs of "zombies" seem scarier and scarier.

Compare the tongue in cheek threat implied by the "occupy your city" protesters dressing as zombies to the tongue and cheek way we call our AR-15s and home defense 12 gauge zombie guns.

Fiction is a great way for our sub consious to play with these issues without feeling too silly about it.

I bet Muammar Gaddafi noticed a few similarities between his final few days and his favorite zombie flixs.

And here I thought Michael Jackson and the Thriller album brought on the Zombies?
Reception back here in my cave is blocked by the rock I'm under.

Sally and Theresa - Two girls with the camping group who get chomped early on.

Wilbur, Andy, and Bob - All get eaten of course, Wilbur is the head camper. Andy is hell bent for hygiene, Bob is the acid-popping med student.

Pa, Ma, Jethro, Junior, and Elly May Clemson - The Clemson clan, not only do they create the contaminated moonshine - they drink it and become zombies! Elly May is a guy by the way, he has some gender issues.

Ferd Mertz - Very heavy hick, finds and give the Clemsons the drum full of toxic waste, he becomes a zombie.

Robinson - Army guy who loses the barrel off his jeep, Ferd Mertz crushes his head. (Choice stuff, see below.)
