What Did You Reload Most Recently?

Since I got a can of WST, that's all I've been loading for my 44 Special. 5.5 grs. with a 240 SWC for around 850 fps. I'm sort of glad I ran out of 231!

Loaded 350 rounds of .38 Special with 158 LRN with 3.2 grains of Bullseye. Super light load that works well for my students in the CCW class.

It wasn't even for me to shoot!

Well,
I have some bullets that I can't use in my Marlin 1894CS. They are the Hornady 265gr FTX bullets that are designed and marketed for the 444 Marlin, I am loading them in 44Mag though. (They don't sell the 225gr FTX bullets yet.)

The OAL is so long that they have to be loaded singly. Which makes is a pain so....I am loading them for a friend that has an Encore carbine.

I spoke with the Hodgdon Ballistician about how to load these bullets, data isn't available for them, with Lil' Gun. I was told to use the data for the 270gr jacketed bullet and work up from there. I decided to use the middle of the road load of 19.8gr and seat to the canelure(sp) closest to the point of the bullet, shortest OAL possible.

If I put them in my M629 Classic, they still stick out of the cylinder!

Well, the guy with the carbine has shot a 70 yard 1" group and we are still working up a load that betters that. We are getting over 1700fps with this combination.

Working very well.

5.56, 62 gr Privi FMJBTSC over 24.5 gr Ramshot Tac. Finished all1K of them about 2 hours ago. Gotta feed the MP15OR something to keep it happy.

I've always wanted one of them!

Skip,
You need a Contender for those long-snouted re-loads!!!

Bob

Bob, I think you need to talk to my wife, Karen! ;)

If I hunted more, I would look into getting one for sure. As it is, I am much more of a small game hunter, rabbits and squirrels, and it would be hard to justify having a dedicated firearm laying around. One thing for sure though, I could stoke it up and let them fly! ;)

I had a Handi-Rifle for this but let it go a while back, should have kept it I guess!

I hope they start to market the FTX in the lighter 225gr that is designed for the 44Mag soon. I already have orders from friends for some of them! :D

Target loads of 240gr cast lead 44 Magnums loaded with 7.5gr of Bullseye.
A load I came up with myself. Try it you'll like it.

45 acp

Just finished reloading 200+- 45's for shooting in the morning. Nickle brass, 4.0gr Clays, WW LP primers, 200gr cast flat nose. This will be run through various 1911's and a 625-8. Hope it is going to be as good of a time as I am imagining.

Just finished up loading 500 rounds of .30 carbine. When I first started reloading .30 carbine ammo was still cheap and thought I'd never use these dies, but bought 'em anyway. Now, it's probably the best investment I've done now that surplus carbine ammo has dried up and commercial ammo has tripled in price lately.

100 rounds of .44 Russian; Starline brass, 200 grain lead bullets, 4.5 grains 231, and Winchester LP primers. In my 696 with a 3" barrel, they chronograph at 665 fps. It is just a nice plinking load with a very mild recoil. It is also very accurate.

When I take non-shooters to the range, I first have them shoot my K22. Then I have them shoot my 696. I don't think it is very productive to scare people with a gun that is loud and has a painful recoil.

Loaded some .45 ACP for the Officers Model I bought the other day. The die set I bought doesn't have an expander, so I made do with something which has been among my reloading bits for so long I cannot remember just what it is! Gotta get an expander die, I betcha!

Thousands of shotshells.

And a bit of 9mm on the Hornady progressive just to say I still do it.

You wouldn't believe how relaxing it is to load shotshells. No obsessing over loads and OAL. Just crank them out and send them into the air after those clays. (It is weird to go through numerous 8lb tubs of powder and hundreds of pounds of lead in such a short time).

However, I do have to get some .45 stocked up. Only a few hundred of those in the boxes at this time. Feeling a bit "understocked".

Most recent?

I made about fifty dummy rounds for a high school forensic class to use.

Six handgun cartridge calibers (several examples of each) and some common rifle cartridges like .223 Rem, 7.62x39, etc.

They went along with a bunch of recovered bullets and cases from various handguns and long guns.

That project took several hours to sort and label and bag before being finished!

Been shooting a '98 Krag of late w/ 185gr lead GC & 11.5gr of RedDot. It'll group into 1.5" @ 50yrds till my eyes give it up with those tiny open sites. Those guys must have had some kind of eyes back then!
Nice, easy load to shoot.
I use 8gr in a Sedgley '03 Springfield sporter and it'll do a bit better with it's Lyman 48 rear sight dispite a worn throat.

So another box of Krag and 03 Springfield rounds for next weeks range visit is in order.
Plus I have loaded up a box/20 of 30 Remington for a Remington Model 8 Automatic. 150gr jacketed RN in those. The rifle grouped well enough with the factory ammo at 50yrds. We'll see what the home-made stuff will do.
