M&P 15-22 Results, Post 'em here. I got Mine!!

allglock

Thanks for the good photo.

Spoke to my brother-in-law last night and he is up to 4,100 rounds with no problems. Hopefully, these other posters can get theirs up & running!

it is a very simple fix. Again, I dont know why S&W doesnt test fire more than one round? I guess they figure a one return in ten or so is worth it for them? But it just adds to your negative reputation....

well, im not happy!!! I had called Academy this morning, to see if they got my gun or not, well...they where supposed to call me right back, but they didnt...anyways, i had an idea, and called S&W for the tracking #, so i tracked it, and when i seen they shipped it Ground, i was like What the heck...so im not giong to get it till Tuesday now. They told me last week they ship stuff next day delivery.

That place isnt going to send a long gun overnight.
Not if they dont have to.. which they dont.
The waiting is the hardest part. I am sure it will be worth the wait!

Its all good, the manager at Academy said he was gonna give me a gun case for it, or a couple boxes of free ammo for my troubles.

Got my (3) extra magazines!

Only took 9 days. Of course, I haven't shot my rifle in almost 2 weeks...based on this thread, it seems that I may have a "real" problem. Thanks go out to "allglock" for his troubleshooting abilities. I am not as heavy when it comes to weapons and rely upon persons just like that to help me. Looked at thefiringline link and I must agree with the last post (i.e. Buying this rifle was probably a mistake; I just can't put it down...). I plan to put A LOT of rounds downrange when it works correctly...no Remington though. Crap in our Walther P22 and, apparently in others' MP15-22s.

Free stuff from store and not S&W?!

Nice man. Not his fault that your rifle is "suspect." I told my wife earlier this afternoon that CUSTOMER SERVICE is severely overlooked by too many businesses at there own peril. It goes a LONG way, in my opinion. I wish you the best with your rifle; keep us posted. If I get to shoot this weekend, I will do the same...

Thanks and yes, ya'll will for sure be getting an update. I know its not Academy's fault, but the Manger i delt with through all this, feels my frustration, and just wanted to do something to make me happy.

Just got back from outside with the new gun!

First 3 magazines ran flawlessly.

I pulled out a magazine I purchased and had not yet used this morning and had 3 failures to eject on the final magazine.

I figure it was just the magazine but I had to be done for the day.

I was hitting clay pigeons easily, but not sure on the accuracy of this guy yet.

Hopefully the next time I go out and shoot that it won't fail to eject some more.

The only thing I have done to the gun is add a front grip from brownells.

OK. In the picture below, my ejector was more towards the straight orange line. It needed to be moved inward approx. 1/16 of an inch, in the position it is in now. Note the positon it is in relation to the breachface. I have the ejector hook circled in orange. Hope this helps!

What would you say is the best way to bend that inwards a 1/16"?

I just started shooting mine this morning, shot 150-200 rounds with 6 to 8 failure to eject.

I am trying to get it to have zero failures and am very satisfied but if your solution works then hopefully that would take care of the problem.

Thanks

Take care

Sounds like you may have an ammo problem. I could barely shoot more than one at a time.
Here is a thread I started : http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-long-guns/103187-m-p-15-22-repair-thread-fte.html

I'm shooting federal bulk ammo which has never given me any problems. I can see that my ejector isn't quite where yours' is in the picture you posted.

Of course federal bulk rarely fails to eject in my 10/22 but it does every once in a while.

I'll take it back out in the morning and see what happens with some CCI.

Just Lucky, I Guess...

Well, I did the ejector tweak as described here and took my rifle out to camp today to see if I had solved my ejection problem. I was so optimistic that I mounted an EOTECH on the gun so that I could sight it in.

My MP15-22 had been doing the FTE thang about 5 to 7 times per magazine and I had never gotten through a magazine without a malfunction.

Well, the tweak did make quite a difference...now I am getting FTE's about 8 or 10 times per magazine.

I give up...I will be calling S&W in the morning.

sorry to hear that you had bad luck like me with it. My 15-22 Is on a Fedex truck right now, coming from S&W headed back to Academy where i got it, shows to be getting delilvered Tuesday. Cant wait to get it back, and it should run perfectly this time around'crossing fingers'....
All and all, took about a month to get it back to me.

New S&W 15-22

Got mine about two weeks ago:D. First thing was to clean it up, this thing was DIRTY, lube it up with a very light coat of tec grease. With that done I put a Weaver 3x9x32AO scope on it and went to range fully expecting to have all kinds of trouble. I didn't!!!! I was not going to leave until I got it to screw up so I got out my supply of Russian made target ammo. Now keep in mind my RWS 350 .22 cal. air rifle has more butt to it than this Russian ammo has. Sure enought it would not work. Thing is with this ammo you can see the bullet going down range, no joke!! So I guess the ammo just don't have the rump to do anything so I can't say I got the gun to mess up:mad:. This stuff don't work in any thing else either. With standard velocity thur to high velocity ammo, mix in together,, 750 rounds of every kind of ammo I could put down the S&W M&P 15-22 I never got a boo-boo of any kind. I am happy to say least:p. Accuracy was very good until I put in RWS high velocity hollow points:eek:, at 65 meters .5000 or half inch groups where one right after another. Some even smaller, and thats with that god awful trigger:D. I am new here and have read the reports of others here with the parts flying out, parts breaking and the jamming guns, well i guess the old saying " even a blind pig will find an acorn every now and then" is ture. Well folks I'll shut up now and thanks for listening to me ramble on here. Pinhead

What ammo were you using?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your 15-22. If you really don't like the trigger, the Rock River two stage drops right in. :D

Ammo I used was Federal bulk and W-W bulk.

I would definatley use CCI mini mags or Federal Game Shok. I have had 100% reliability with these through 600 rounds so far.
I had some OLD Remington High velocity ammo, that would only go through 5 or 6 shots at a time. I could tell some of the rounds were weak, just by the report, when fired. Needless to say, I gave them to the range guy and will stick with what I know works 100%.

I believe the manual even states to find an ammuniton type that works and to keep using that type.... lol
P.S. Does .22 ammo not store as well as centerfire ammo??
