CCW badges

Oh sure - Like none of us ever show our CC badge and say
Do you have a weapon on you miss?
For your safety and mine I have to frisk you.

:) :) :)

I saw a guy with one of those in Wally World last summer. Clipped to his belt with his forty whatever block in a thigh holster and a 1911 in a nylon shoulder rig with 4 mags...

My wife turned to me and asked "Are they filming a new version of the Matrix around here?"

That dumb shield can make you a great target at first glance in a bad situation..

Here in Alabama I have twice seen something similar. Guy driving a white Crown Vic with a blue coffee cup on the dash. Another in a white Crown Vic had a blue teddy bear on the dash. In both cases drivers, including me, right away pulled over to the right lane and let him pass on the left. Nothing illegal I don't guess and it sure opened up the passing lane. Neither one was a police car.

I knew I could depend on you guys. A saw one of those idiotic ccw badges advertised in a magazine and wondered what others thought about it. I did my search and found my answer. Seems you guys think it's just as useless as I do.

When I wear my "North Carolina State Medical Examiner's Badge",on a chain around my neck, aka "Miami Vice" at the scene of a death, everyone backs up an lets me through. My wife and grands and great grands just laugh and say, "Poppa" are you a cop? I say not anymore!, BUT when i was the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner of Dade County/Miami, I was CSI Miami before anyone knew what it was!

Thanks to steamloco and the folks at the PA forum for this enlightening video. I'm not sure which was more informative ... the explanation and rationale for carrying the CCW badge, the finger-on-trigger instruction, the quick draw technique, or the magical spinning Glock maneuver. The entire video should be watched to appreciate it to the fullest.

Well, that was the icing on the cake, so to speak. After all this discussion, and this illuminating video, I'm retiring my CCW badge, my radio-operator's badge, my motor-vehicle operator's badge, my underground-utility-locator-ID number badge, and various other minor badges, many of which, frankly and admittedly, I have not been in the habit of carrying or displaying, regularly, anyway... Thus freed of this badge bearing burden, I intend on expending extra energy perfecting my Glock spinning technique --- Safety? We don't need no stinkin' safety...

JKC ... As painful as it is, the 12:15 this video steals from my life is worth repeated viewing on occasion. This joker must be a disciple of James Yeager's School of Mall Ninja Tactics and Bravado.

Here's a photo of me gittin' ready to whip out my CCW badge!

I've seen those Private Investigator badges advertised in catalogs for Private Investigators. I've been one for almost 18 years and would never even consider one. The only ID I need is my DL and the ID the state issues me. They're both safely ensconced in my wallet until such time as I may need them, which in the case of the state ID, is never. My investigative work is usually here at the computer, on mobile surveillance or the occasional undercover assignment where I would be posing as someone else. None of these require a "Badge".
The concealed carry badges have been advertised in gun magazines for decades. They say "THIS BADGE MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE!!" Uh, not so much.

These guys are just another example of people who
(don't think). The self professed (experts) on youtube
and the like are just Mall Ninja types who want to be something
or someone they are not. Or ever will be. But in these days
of viral videos and reality TV it brings the kooks out of the
woodwork. Probably sits around and watches himself all evening
on the Puter' marveling at how cool he is. He has no training
whatsoever on gun handling nor has he been in any position
of authority. As a child he was getting beaten up by a larger female
classmate on a regular basis. Watches cops shows and war movies
wondering why he always got cut from the recruiters at the Army and
local police departments.
In short, not good for our sport....

Ohh, my head hurts, I just watched that blithering idiot for the whole 12:15.

Gee, what if your "badge" happens to attract the attention of a gang-banger? I doubt most of them can read the "CCW" portion, but they all know what a badge means.

Perhaps they might "object" to your presence.

It sort of reminds me of the Bounty Hunter badges people like Dog Chapman carries.

I think Lee's first post in the thread covered Chapman and his crew pretty well.;)

Regards.

Bob

P.S. I got dog piled on another forum several years ago when I answered a similar post by saying CCW badges were for Goobers.

I guess I'm like a lot of others on here, I've never seen one and didn't know they were out there. I've got my card in my wallet and that's good enough for me. And it comes in real handy when I buy a gun and have to show two forms of ID, speeds things up quite a bit.

"Mom shut up! I'm makin' cinema down here!"

Is that a real viking shield on the wall?

That guy on the video has definitely seen way too many Miami Vice re-runs. He really has that getting to his badge on a chain maneuver down pat. His gun handling skills really make those on the fence want to support carry laws. What a maroon.

I'm late to this party... but I thought the purpose of having a CCW permit was to be able to carry... concealed! As in you don't know I'm carrying and I don't want you to know! Shoot, (pun intended!) maybe we oughta make up some T-shirts with an arrow that points to where we carry our favorite pistola... NOT! :D
