What's you favorite S&W revolver Model and Why?

My favorite; 4 inch 29. Short enough for concealment & long enough for power. More loads available in both .44 magnum, & .44 special, than most people who don't re-load realize, including bullet choice. Its hard to pick one without feeling like I am two-timing all the rest. Anyway, you asked for opinions, there's mine.

I love the 29. But don't forget the 629. Short barrel, long barrel, Stealth Hunter, Mountain Gun.

And the 610. Of course the 625 is nice also. But the 57 and 657 is sure a sweet shooter. Any blue gun in a nice high polish is nice, like a 27 or 28.

And of course the L frame 686/586, in short barrel, but a nice shooter in 6". But a K Frame model 19 was my first.

Pretty much any wheel gun - also love the concealable J frame 60.

Hard to pick just one.

I own many Smiths N Frames, 29's,57's,28,27 and my favorite would be my S&W 45 Target Model of 1955 pre-25 what a tack driver. Just drop in the mooners and done deal easy load and unload LOL!! Then my first year production Model 53 8/3/8'er a real fun shooter also . All Smiths are great never came across one i didnt like...

My model 10-5 3" used Victoria Australia police revolver. I have never had a gun fit or balance as well as it does.

I must be different. Since the 44 S&W Spl. is my favorite caliber and all my older ones I will not hot rod, my M21 is it. Have it while hunting as a back-up & CC with a IWB holster.
Yea, not as classy as may of the S&W revolvers I have but it has first place right now.

I fall into the whichever one I have in my hand right now camp. I won't say that I have owned one of everything that Smith has made since I got old enough to buy a handgun, but I've had most of them through my paws at one time or another other than the odd special edition pieces. For daily carry give me an airweight bodyguard or a centennial. For stumping around in the boonies give me a 624, 624 or 629 any of which with a reasonable load will do anything I need a handgun to do. For things that might go bump in the dark, I have an old Texas DPS trade in M28 that was so ugly finishwise, spray paint would have been an improvement. It's now roundbutted, melted and finished in some type of matte nickle that my gunsmith bet me I couldn't make fall off even with my bad skin chemistry. He said something about having another customer who plated down hole oil field tooling and figured that if crude oil wouldn't tear it up, my skin chemistry wouldn't either. So far so good. For target shooting, give me my 6" 617. It holds better for me with the full underlug than a K22. For just having fun shooting, give me any of the .38 / .357 K or L frames with a barrel between 3 and 6 inches and more ammo than I can swim with and I'm a happy guy. Whatever you do, don't hand me your unfired safe queen and turn your back at the range when there is ammo around. Bad as I hate to admit it, I'm just that kinda of guy

Every time I take it to the range I think I love my 625-3 a little bit more. Being able to load any bullet I want into a .45 ACP, not having to chase down the brass, ease of loading the moon clips, and it's a big heavy all stainless steel N frame. I luvz it.

My favorite is honestly the one I haven't got yet. But of those I own, my Model 15 Combat Masterpiece is it. I carried this model in the Air Force in the late sixties and grew to like it a lot. Now that I have one, it's kind of a treasure to me. After that, it's my Model 18-0, with box and tools that I was extremely fortunate to come into possession of. They match quite well as a multi caliber set.

I missed out on the Lew Horton .44 SPL with the 2 1/2 inch barrel and round butt. A year or two later SW made one in similar trim in .44 Mag. I quickly bought that one.

I loaded mine down using a 429421 cast bullet and a 3/4 load of Alcan AL-8.

I liked it beause the bullets were a snap to cast, and I found it easier to handle larger brass cases.

After finding the perfect revolver, of course, I sold it...

I guess my favorite would have to be a Model 18-3 4" from 1978. It has survived 35 years of buying, trying and swapping. I wished I had the 29's, 27's and 19's that got away. No more of that foolishness for me. Now I just add them.

+1 in the Model 66/19 column. My 66 no dash shares many good and bad memories, has always been a faithful and reliable friend, has saved my (bacon) more than once, and with a little help from "Mother's," still looks brand new. With apologies to George Orwell, my S&W safe queens sleep well because the old 66 stands ready in the night to visit violence on those who would harm them. Can't expect more from a handgun than that.

I love them all but if I had to choose just one the 4" pre 19 is my favorite and the last one I will ever sell.

If forced to choose three to bring to a desert island :
6" Model 29 for its big game stopping power ,
2.5" Model 19 for ease of carry with Magnum force
4" Model 18 for small game and plinking.
