AR Type firearms! NRA is a must join NOW!

George, I think your last sentence is pushing it a bit.

And that was.. "I think they will stand up with you in court if you have to use your gun to defend yourself too.."

Thank you TangoFoxtrot,

You may be right! I know many years ago that was one of the strong point of being a NRA member and at that time the main reason I joined. May be worth a call to the NRA to find out for sure about it.. But they still give you the accidental death and dismemberment if done with a firearm.. But the big thing here is our gun rights now.. They will do there utmost to help us keep them..Thank you all for reading and re-thinking the need to join the NRA at this time! George

Well I thank everyone who has joined and also Stebo for telling how to get the emblem on the profile. Also for us who are military there is no reason to say no to the NRA as 1: we are brave enough to fight for our country with the same firearms they so want to take from us and 2: the NRA has a program for us that I found out about that works just as well... And there is no cost: not sure if I can post it here on the forum but here is the link: NRA LIFE OF DUTY | Welcome . I also have a membership and contribute to them annually so there is no reason my brothers ( and sisters) in arms for not joining in this fight

I signed up for a 5-year membership last week. Would've gone for "life" membership, but calculated that at my age, it's better for me to go 5 years at a time, though it would be nice to say I'm a "life member" :D So...I WILL be a life member, just in 5 year increments. ;)

Sorry but I heard this same song and dance back in 1986. They sold out my full autos. Heard it again during the first Assault weapon ban, hearing it again and again. Do they let new members vote? Do they really want to hear what the every day guy thinks? Or will they pump your mail box full of junk mail, spam you email and call you asking for money every week?

What once was a proud and powerful organization is now just about making money. They are out of touch like so many politicians in Washington.

Would I join again if I thought they would really make a difference-YES. Sadly I quit believing them a few crisis earlier. When we are reduced to paint ball guns and non firing replicas there will still be someone beating the drum begging everyone to join because you get a free gift card and they will protect your paint ball guns.....

What if the government labels the NRA as a "Terrorist Group"? It can happen.. Everyone that is a member will also be a "Terrorist".

Really, A Label? Think I have heard it all.......... Like we aren't already being labeled as crazy people hence why they want to take our firearms. Can't understand how someone that doesnt want to join finds the time to come into a thread to say why you don't want to join... Like truly a waste of thread space to me............SORRY..... I guess you can go ahead and spit on me and every other Soldier in Uniform who has fought to have rights seeing as many of the NRA are Vets along with other organizations trying to fight this ban battle. Hey once it happens and you go and buy your nerf or paintball gun can we NRA people have you ammo... Thanks... sorry for venting but I fail to realize why people Thread Bash when its just as simple to bypass it if you have nothing relevant to put in on it...

I just posted this on a Glock forum of which I'm also a member. I would be remiss if I didn't post it here also. I believe what I posted there and I believe it here. If you're not a member of the NRA, join. Just DO IT.

Just received a long letter from Wayne LaPierre today asking for all NRA members to extend their current membership to fight off this current onslaught we're all facing. My membership doesn't expire now until sometimes in 2015. I just extended it last year for 3 years in answer to his letter when we were trying our best to defeat our current Dictator-In-Chief. And guess what? I'm going to extend my membership again. And keep on extending until the gun grabbers are gone. That will never happen so we've got to keep fighting them off. Again and again and again. After last night's Congressional debaucle, it's not just 2nd amendment rights which are in question. Our government is running us, not us running the government.

Wouldn't being a member not only to the NRA but also GOA be more helpful? I am joining with anyone willing to stand up for the 2nd amendment.

$300 dollar lifetime membership? Please tell me more and post a link? Thank you! You all have been great?George

I'm a member of both. GOA is known as the "no compromise" organization, and is single-minded on combating any type of gun control. They get the word out to it's members and make it easy to contact your congresscritters with a few clicks of your mouse on the internet. In my opinion, it couldn't hurt to be a member of both NRA and GOA.

I'm a Life member of the NRA and now my wife is a life member. My brother, who quit long ago, has joined up again ! I'm also a member of Gun Owners of America and the Second Amendment Foundation and Citizens Committee to Keep and Bear Arms. I like mail...ha ha ha
Some get teed off with the NRA for sending all the requests for donations...I called 'em about that for a friend who was mad, and they said to tell him to throw it in the trash, but not quit! So don't worry about the mail, just trash it...I was told they gotta do this to get money for all the stuff they do.
I send some $ every now and then but don't get uptite about it.
Pete
