The assault weapons ban was approved by the Senate Judiciary committee today and will go to the Senate floor for an up or down vote. This would be a good time to contact your local representatives to ensure they understand that a weapons ban only affects the law abiding citizen. Bad guys don't care about the rules, that's why their called bad guys. For those of you too young to remember, they had a weapons ban for a decade and it had no effect on crime. The ban didn't work. This is not about crime control, it's about gun control. If this passes, next comes confiscation. This is serious stuff folks. Write a letter, make a call, get involved.

Even the Democrats are saying this bill will never get 60 votes. They don't even think it will get 50. Passage out of committee was certain, and death on the floor is almost as certain.

Incase you watched the debate on cspan,Leahy said that he has heard about the rumors about the gun confiscations and, Leahy said there wouldn't be any type of confiscation on any type of firearms in this country period. end of rumors.

I agree that wearing a tin foil hat is a discredit to one's self but I reserve the right to be skeptical of such claims from Sen. Leahy and his ilk, especially since Mme. Senator Feinstein herself is on record saying she would do it if she could get away with it.

I posted about this earlier, but nothing wrong with keeping it fresh in everyone's minds. You can be rest assured that I am not allowing my elected officials to forget what's at stake with the possible passage of this bill and Sen. Schumer's.

They really cover themselves....this language is inserted at the end of the bill:

If any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance is held to be unconstitutional, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance shall not be affected thereby.

Hard to believe She does not understand that this infringes on the Second Amendment...in reference to S150

If you're from MA like me, then you know that its a waste of time to write/call/email our senators. I know, I've done it. Warren is a puppet of the democratic leadership, insists she grew up in a family that hunted, supports 2nd amendment rights, but we need to take those nasty assault weapons, yada, yada,, ad infinitum.
Sen Cowan, William M. "Mo" is a lame duck interim Senator hand picked appointed by Gov. Patrick until the election to replace John Kerry is held. There is a reason he picked him, just another puppet. Sen. Cowan is not running in the coming election.

We from MA have had this problem for years. The Kennedys, the Kerrys, and a whole list of feel good liberals. As long as MA is a mostly liberal democratic party controlled state, nothing will change. From the state where the shot heard 'round the world helped to make this country free, it is so sad that our leaders cannot and will not defend that freedom. I would encourage fellow MA forum members to vote for whoever the GOP runs in the election, if for no other reason than to give our state political balance and change the status quo.

We are all concerned about the guns. In the meantime we should be looking at whether our ammo supply is safe. Why bother with the guns? Dry up the public ammo supply by purchasing 1.6 billion rounds.

They took to much time & it lost momentum, no chance right now. I'm sure they are stepping back to get something passed & will return to it later when they believe they have a better chance.

I have repeatedly contacted my US Senators. Schumer and Gilibrand. Automated response from Schumer about "he hears me but my opinion doesn't matter" and no response from Gillibrand at all. When Kirsten was first elected, she took a pro-gun stand. She promptly got her hand slapped and now its business as "liberal usual" for her.

Never give up

Contact them anyway...they take silence as consent.....never give in...we all need to insist on our second amendment rights and the states that understandnthat....need to support the folks where they just dont get it.
