I bought (1) box of TulAmmo (Russian, Wally World, Steel Case) in 380 ACP for my BG380 for practice.

It was cold today about 25 F outside. I could not get one to chamber completely. The slide would stop 1/4 short of its travel and lock up. I had to fiddle with the slide for about 5 min. to work the round out. Right after that I tried American Eagle with no issues. Tried a different TulAmmo round and it jammed again.

I will not use that stuff in my BG380 ever again. I ran about 75 rounds of the American Eagle 95 grain today without a issue. My BG380 has about 400 rounds total through it now. I am getting better with this little pocket pistol and really like it.

Any one else try the Tula in there Bodyguard?

My wife has one and we tried one box of Tula and they all chambered but two snapped and she had to pull the trigger again to get them to fire. She has fired several hundred each of PMC, American Eagle and Winchester and has not had a misfire. Larry

I bought a box and could not get one to chamber either. i gave the box away to a friend to use in his Ruger LCP. That's is the only ammo that my BG380 doesn't like.

I couldn't get it to function in my LCP. It would get hung up in the magazine. I use it for practice in my other pistols and rifles with no problems.

Tula .45 ACP seems to be pretty good from my experience. 9MM not so much and the .380 is pretty darned bad. I bought 300 rounds of Tula .380 a year or so ago and had feeding/chambering issues with all my .380's except my SIG P238. Swore I'd never buy another round of the stuff!

The best inexpensive .380 ACP ammo I've ever tried is RWS followed by CCI Blazer aluminum case. Accurate, clean and goes bang every time.

This is what I sent to Tula's customer service.

I have two boxes of Tula .380 ammo that will not chamber properly into my S&W Body Guard. I have shot Winchester 95 grn FMJ and Federal Hydra Shock over 100 times with no problem.
I have studied the rounds and found these measurements comparing the Winchester to Tula. Case length Win .673 Tula .672, Case diameter Win .371 Tula .373, Bullet diameter at case Win .351 Tula .353, Total Length Win .944 Tula .970.
It appears the Tula bullet touches inside the bore at .853 total length and will get stuck. The other ammo's tapered noses prevent this from happening.

They sent me a check in the mail, a total refund for both boxes.

Sunday GunDay - YouTube

In this video at the end its shot using tul ammo. If you try to camber a round with out the mag it will not chamber. I had 0 issues and shot around 200 rounds last sunday.

I field stripped my BG380 and the Tula ammo will not fit down into the chamber all the way, It sticks out about 1/8 of a inch. I tried all my other ammo and they fit perfectly. I will not force cheap ammo through my gun, if it don't like I wont buy it.

Is it yours or are you in the vid? Im trying to figure this one out. Normally on AKs you just drop the round in and let the bolt fly forward. Theres enough force to chamber (and distort) a 7.62x45 cal round. It looks like a Saiga. Some Saigas need a bullet button (not the Cali one) to function properly because they are "sporting" rifles. If you look the mag that is provided has a ramp built in vs a military AK which has the ramp under the barrel and not on the mag.

Is the chamber dirty?? I been buying up the chamber brushes latey so i can clean all my semi auto's because of the ammo being dirtier.

The saiga's need a bullet button or ramp guide because your adapting a different magazine to it. The standard saiga mag will feed fine. If your adapting a gali 223 mag into a saiga you need to install the guide ramp too.

I've shot a lot of the russian manufactured steel cased ammo in rifles and handguns and its been flawless. But i have read that some guns don't like to feed the steel cases.

Another thought is maybe someone got the ammo mixed up??

380 acp 9mm x 17mm
9mm makarov 9mm x 18mm
9mm luger 9mm x 19mm

Measure the length of the brass?

Was at the range range today with my Colt Mustang and will not chamber the Tul .380 either. I have a couple thousand rounds or various .380 and have never had this happen. I will be sending this ammo back...

I had the exact same problem with my BG and TulaAmmo steel case. Seems that our BGs just don't like it!

The guy at the range today said that they don't allow Tulammo there. He brought out a magnet and showed us that the actual bullet (not just the casing) is made of steel. Steel running through a steel barrel would not be good IMO...ugh I bought 3 boxes of this at Walmart since it was cheaper than the Federal. I hope I can find my receipt lol

Ammo sales are final pretty much everywhere. And don't always believe the magnet test

I bought some tul ammo for my sd9ve and my son's sr9 at wally world because at that time, I could not find any kind of 9mm anywhere that didn't cost a fortune or was plus p. We bought 5 boxes for 10 dollars and some change apiece. They have all fed and fired with no problems. They may not work in other weapons, but they worked fine in ours. Oh, and they worked fine in my wife's sar b6p as well.

Tulammo has a issue with their 380acp. It's not in spec. 9mm and 45acp are better but in general its garbage ammo even buy cheap ammo standards.
