I have been 'laid up' for a few weeks, and have had the opportunity to lurk on the various forums more than usual.

I am too challenged to make a poll, but have a thought.

It seems that the various forums have active posters in distinct groups.

AR folks seem to be largely young folks who are concerned about heavy armament for home defense and SHTF stuff.

24hour seems to be middle agers who are enjoying the fruits of their labor.

S&W, with the exception of M&P subforum, seems to be any older group who enjoys sharing with others, and sometimes reminiscing.

Am I off base here? Personally I don't post my birthdate, but I worked one job for 43 years, and then became a contractor.

Sachel Page said something like, "how old would you be if you didn't know how old you are".

I have an AR so I must be young. I dolled up a HBAR Match target with a 4x16 target scope. But I have an AR-15 so I must be young.

When I was visiting many forums prior to this one I sat at the campfire one. I did not stay long.

It reminded me of a family reunion I accompanied a friend too. What a totally dysfunctional family reunion, one where cousins got into a fight, brothers got drunk and threw punches, mayhem and other craziness. My friend said he wasn't coming to visit my family anymore.

They were too busy arguing over there on that twofour forum, I'm sure the fire is now out.

In this forum we are not an old bunch of fogeys who sit and reminisce.

It is called History, American youth, 1940-1970. Baby boomers also overlap this genre. If we do not look back at history we are doomed to repeat it.

I for one am not about to take the 1st grade all over. Do I hear a 2nd on this....

I worked for a few years and found a vocation that suited me and worked there for 42 years. I retired from that job last fall.

But, again, I have an AR 15, therefore I am young.

My wife and I are planting fruit trees and grapes on our farm. I am going to buy bottle calves to raise due to the high price of cows. I plan to eat the fruit, turn grapes into wine and see many calves delivered from the ones I raise. Old! Hmp.

Aside from profiling various forums by age group what is it that you really need to know?

I guess I just wanted to see what the folks who monitor the lounge would have to say. I did not mean to insinuate anyone was 'old'.

I have had no luck with grapes. Various berries [black raspberries, strawberries, blueberries] do fine. Same for pears, apples and plums.

We have 500 trees planted over the last 10 years that are still alive, in various types and sizes.

I mostly come here just to relax, and talk about 5 cent cokes and such.

I'm 34 i tend to frequent the classifieds and revolver forums

I'm 35 and I spend more time on gun forums than I do facebook or email. It's great to be able to have discussions with others without having to have all the backlash found on facebook. At least here we can openly share pics on guns we've bought, discuss our love for the 2nd amendment, religion, politics, news, anything, and for the most part users leave respectful comments.

I like this S&W forum because there's a lot of revolver lovers here too, and it makes me feel like I'm at really cool gun shop just hanging out with knowledgeable shooters.

I belong to a couple of other forums, but they don't compare to this one. There's usually not a whole lot going on in the other ones. Here, there's always something going on! I usually start out in the M&P pistol section, then head over to the semi auto forum, & then hit the Lounge. I am a Lounge Lizard for sure. I'm 59, if that means anything.

Didn't take it as old, I was razzing you. I saw how long you worked in one job and it was about the same as me.

500 trees is a very noteworthy accomplishment. We put in 20 last winter a year ago and plan on more real soon. Are there any forums for newbies to orchard husbandry? I've planted small numbers in the past but plan on lots more on our 160 acres.

Thanks. Duane.

Sorry, but I can't help on the orchard forum guidance. Never have looked.

I am blessed with a wonderful spouse who is a workaholic, officially retired, and happened to major in Horticulture/Agriculture in college many moons ago.

I dig holes and she supervises or does the rest. We have even been doing some shaping in the snow, before sap becomes an issue.

We need a snorting emoticon. :D

The younger of my two kids is 47.

I don't pay a hell of a lot of attention to age here, and this is my only forum. At 76 I know there are guys older than I and lots younger. I think there's at least one about 19 (a revolver fan, as I recall--there is hope!) and I know one is 88. I expect the majority are boomers or older, but there's a nice range.

The thing I like is that nearly all these folks are civil, helpful, ready to support a member who is hurting, and mostly funny.
Some are just downright nuts, naming no names. :D

I think all ages stumble into the lounge occasionally but usually only the older and wiser ones seem to frequent it.
I also believe it consumes most of the moderators time.

Shoudazagged

I know you're not talking about me, because just like you, my Mother had me tested!

The main reason I mostly stay out of the revolver section is that the 3rd Gens take up most of my time & all of my money. I do like revolvers, even though I only have one. I fell into the 3rd gen thing when I saw a pic that Rags(yes, I still blame you!)had posted of his Model 4013TSW, & I was lost. So I don't need to wander around in the wheel gun forum & maybe fall down another rabbit hole;I can't afford it!:cool::D

I forgot to say I've got an AR too!
