Cummings Custom Refinishing calls it CPII. Their website describes it as follows:

"CPII (Cera-Plate II) is a true composite plating process. It is an Electroless Nickel / Boron Nitride tank based plating system that incorporates Boron Nitride particles within the matrix of a phosphate system. Benefits include exceptionally low coefficient of friction, superior release and excellent wear resistance. CP II is perfect for applications that require the lubrication of Teflon but need more wear resistance. A little longer than I expected but it was 3 months.

Sunday I bought a four inch 28 no dash, serial S204xxx in good shape. Some holster wear. Tight as a drum on lock up.

I'm thinking the biggest demand for the s&w revolvers is the model 28 & 27 now the prices will soar. Can I get a $1,000? How about $1,200? Do I hear $1,500 in the near future?

If it's under $1,000 grab it do not price shop.

3.5" P&R N frame 357s are there now, have been for a while, HPs,,, it will be a few years (IMHO) before they get to $1,000 (except for NIB 4 and 5 screw and the seldom seen versions)

At my LGS the highway patrolman with 6" barrel is $1,000 already. This leaves the m28/4" barrel a tad higher. And the m27 a step ahead price wise.

I believe by the end of the summer the prices will be a solid,

1. Highway Patrolman 4" $1,200
2. Highway Patrolman 6" $1,000
3. M27 4" $1,500
4. M27 6" $1,300

In the present demand if it continues the prices could hit $2,000 as the supply dries up and the demand increases. Right now the present flood of them is from the older owners letting them go. I haven't ever seen the s&w n frames ever for sale like I'm seeing now. If the demand increases and the supply dries up who knows where the prices will go.

I'll be buying the brand new ones for sure like I always have.

Here is my new to me Model 28 five screw, serial #S1334##. I looked at the guide, and this looks like it was made between 1954-1955. The grips are not matching, but they were a gift from a friend and the gun came with Hogue Monogrip. Except for a little bit of wear on the muzzle, the gun is perfect and in great shape for a sixty year old gun!

Here is my 28-2 highway patrolman. S/N N25xxxx, produced 1974-1977. My plans are original target grips and lots of ammo.

Can someone show me an example of what would be correct for Target grips?

2 Highway Patrolman Revolvers One Pre-28 One 28-2

I just picked up a near mint 28-2, S/N N57776x dated to 1978-1979 according to SCSW (roughly). No box but pristine. Looks un-carried and close to unfired.

I also have a 5 screw Pre-Model 28 which was carried a lot and shot. The Pre-28 bears S/N S12120x which according to SCSW is a 1954/55 gun.

Last year, I was able to have the Pre-28 refurbed by an S&W Gunsmith from the Performance Center who happens to be a friend. This old Highway Patrolman is now smooth as silk and tight as a tick. Both are 4 inch barrel models by the way.

The grips on the Pre-Model 28 are not correct and I am looking for a set of Diamond Magna's N Frame.
