Guys, I was thinking how many rounds a week do you shoot? I reload using Hornady Hap 115gr 9mm and been told those are designed for target. I am wondering at 21 feet, will it really matter if I use them or regular Hornady Round nose?

I been shooting 200 rounds a week and it seems a lot compared to what I been told most owners only shoot 200 a year! H

before things got really busy at work I was shooting at least 200 rounds a week. Hornady makes an accurate and excellent bullet. At close range you probably wont see any difference on the target.

I use Zero jacketed bullets and Bayou coated bullets to help keep cost manageable. Buying in bulk helps too.

bayou

I wanted to buy bayou but does not seem to have any load data. What concerns me is the overall length for 115gr. Can I copy Hornady Round Nose? If I only shot up to 21 feet does it matter I use Bayou? It seems those bullets may not be .355 diamater consistently and the last thing I need is the bullet while seating it, slips too far in which can raise presure to unsafe levels

I'm up to about 300 for this week. I shot 150 rounds Sunday and again tonight. Probably will go out again this weekend. I realized a few weeks ago when I posted a similar thread that I shot a lot...lol

I wish I could get the bayou bullets but with no load data, I am afraid to take a chance. I also seen some bullets slip deep into the brass case without even seating them! holy yikes! That is why I rather stick with Hornady Hap bullets. More xpensive but worth it I tihnk for peace of mind

I alternate weeks shooting rifle one week and pistol the next. Maybe 30-40 rounds of rifle and around 80 pistol. Now that I have a second pistol I'll probably shoot a few more pistol rounds.

Not counting rifle or rim fire about 350-400 center fire handgun per week. My range is an out door range so when its finger numbing cold outside that number takes a nose dive!

Nothing really matters at 21ft, everything goes into one small ragged hole, regardless of caliber. The distance is just too close to diff for accuracy. Yep, 200-250rds a week is about my avg.

You load bayou bullets as you would any lead bullet. So don't eat lack of data stop you.

Re: OP. Given that you are reloading, 200 rds. of 9mm each week is reasonable. At 21 feet it is very doubtful that any meaningful difference will be found in the on target results of common 9mm bullets.

At present my shooting is confined to .22LR handguns. Generally when I go to the range I fire 2-300 rounds. When I am again able to return to regular reloading, I expect I will be firing about 150 rds. a week.

In a normal full week of shooting 200-250 pistol, 100-150 shotgun, and ~50 rifle. Bad weather cuts that a bit and winter makes shotgun and rifle an occasional "good day" thing.

That's one of the few advantages of being old and retired lol.

For me it depends on what I'm shooting. If I'm in a Rifle mood I'll only shoot about 40-50 rounds in an hours time because my rifles are either 308 Bolt Rifles or 357 Magnum Lever actions. BTW, when Rifle Shooting I don't just blast away I do my best to try and get multiple rounds through the same hole and that does take a bit of concentrating.

If I'm in hte mood for Handgun Shooting I will typically run 150-250 rounds downrange in an hours time. Less if I'm shooting a revolver and more if I'm shooting a Semi Auto. BTW, made myself a brass catcher that fits on my right hand so I don't spend nearly as much time chasing cases than I used to.

Ammunition Police Are Watching

There is no "right" amount of ammunition to fire. It's all subjective. If you must take out a second mortgage on the homestead to buy ammo or if after firing 38,000 rounds a day, you can no longer hold the gun up, then you're firing too much.

Let's see..Started shooting June '13...17 months...3,253 rounds...

So it's about 191 rounds a month...

I probably average around 200 rounds per week. I rotate between my 9s, 38s and 45s.
