Please remind me again why my wife loves those orange, yellow, brown and even sometimes gray pointy things that fall from the sky this time a year? And why we travel to Gatlinburg each fall to see the mountains covered in the stupid things? And go up and down the car sick hills and valleys just to see more?

And why That I have to rake, mulch, blow those thingies in and around the yard. And Why did I Have to pay a very high quality gun price ransom a few years ago, to have gutter blocker things put on the house to keep em out of the gutters?

Please remind me again why people think those thingies that fall randomly from the sky are so PRETTY??

Could it be? She don't have rake, Blow, mulch, mow the stupid things, like I just spent two 1/2 hours doing. Because she wants the yard all pretty for the 12-15 trick and treaters to see. And then once again before Thanksgiving for the friends and family comes over? Lord forbid they have to walk through the things or actually use the sidewalk? Are they that dangerous that you can't walk through them?

Is it just me that hates the stupid thingies???? Or does everyone think they are so PRETTY?

Living out here in the West Virginia mountains I appreciate the unique beauty of all the seasons. At this time of year the surrounding mountain ridges are a mosaic of brilliant colors.
We drive along oohing and aahing and the beauty of nature.
It's also good for our town. Lotsa tourists come out and go for Fall foliage drives in the mountains.
We have three huge maple trees in our yard that're turning a brilliant yellow/orange.
Like 'em or hate 'em they're a part of the cycle of life.

Nah! I'm more of a Spring person! I love it when the trees start budding! The buttercups start blooming! I love the smell of honeysuckle and the dogwood trees in their full blooms! And watch as the birds and little animals scuttle around and come out for the first time. And laugh at my wife with her allergies and sinus issues! That I don't have.

Much Rather go to Panama City Beach and fish and watch all the young ladies prance around in nothing.

But that's just me? I guess I'm weird!

You can have the winter along with the snow and the dog days of summer with the high humidity!

But that's just me? I guess I'm weird!

I live where we have four seasons, and love that fact.

I think Mother Nature is a really good painter, but especially in spring and fall.

I love the fall colors, but especially the beeches. You'll have at least four different colors--gold, green, deep red-brown and orange--all at the same time, and then everything goes gold and hangs on the silver limbs longer than most hardwoods. Gorgeous.

Then again, I live in an apartment with a very small yard, so clearing away the leaves isn't a big deal.

Did someone urinate in your cornflakes this morning? :D Larry

Well I think they are really beautiful and I love to look at them myself. Of course the ones I see are on line or on the tube cause I live in the desert and cacti don't shed in the fall.

Not only does she get to see the beauty of their colors each year, she has the unmitigated joy and pleasure of watching you rake, and rake, and rake them and then dispose of them. Few things can bring such joy to a wife’s life than seeing her husband working, and working, and working. Also the more useless and unproductive the work the greater their joy.

One of the good things about living in South Florida is that
leaves do not turn, and leaves do not fall. Hence I don't have
to rake.

On the other hand, I will be in Gatlinburg in three weeks on a
business trip, and will be able to take in natures beauty and not
have to clean up after her. :D

In this order....

Fall
Spring
Summer
Winter

Pointy things or not, Fall is my favorite time of year. I feel more alive then than any other time.

I also wear fall colors often. But nowadays it's mostly shorts and a t-shirt. Maybe I should dye them.

One thing about the SE.....

All I have are pine needles. ;)

In the Southeast we have a LOT of pine trees. The paper company I worked for bragged that they always planted a tree for every one they cut down. Cut down a maple? Plant a pine tree. Cut down an oak? Plant a pine tree. Cut down a....... Oh, you get the picture.:(

I agree. An elderly neighbor, who has since fallen from the tree of life, said this:

"God put 'em there, God can take 'em away."

I think all our deciduous trees were planted by settlers, maybe that's why WA is called the evergreen state. (of course nowadays, that moniker probably refers to environmentalists )
