I think what started this...

Man, Beverly Sills was a great one. When I was young, I thought she would always be young, like me. Well, now she's gone, but fortunately we live in a time when we can still hear the great sounds.

You know, I think what started this diatribe was that someone didn't like my listening to opera and said that it was nothing but a lot of yelling. Well, maybe a lot of it is, but it's yelling in tune.:D What I'm trying to get across that are are a great many types and styles of opera and there is something in there that just about anybody can appreciate. There is a LOT more to it than yelling, or Brunhilde in armor and braids singing "Toya Ho!". All you have to do is shop around.

Wow I need an atta boy!
I fixed that toilet in 20 minutes and it works like a charm and no leaks! :D

Bugs Bunny Music

The folks that made 'Bugs Bunny' drew heavily on Rossini, who wrote some of the most clever and entertaining music ever. It defines 'comeday'. We used to laugh at this as 'typical opera music' when we were kids. It is about a barber who comes to town explaining how he does everything well. In those days barbers were dentists, surgeons as well as other things. He is a "Factotum" (real handyman) Figaro is in such demand that he feels like he has to be everywhere at once.

Rossini's opera 'William Tell' is chock full of themes that we've heard all over, but never knew where they all came from. The storm, the morning and of course the "William Tell Overture"
